Quality of life in patients with drug-sensitive pulmonary tuberculosis treated in health facilities in the San Martin de Porres district

Abstract

Objective: This study sought to determine the quality of life in patients with sensitive pulmonary tuberculosis treated in health facilities in the district of San Martín de Porres, 2019. Materials and methods: It is a study with a quantitative approach, and its methodological design is not experimental, descriptive and cross-sectional, with a population of 189 patients affected with sensitive pulmonary tuberculosis disease. The data collection technique was the survey and the data collection instrument used was the WHOQOL BREF Questionnaire. Results: The quality of life is distributed as follows, 154 participants representing 81.5% obtained an average level of quality of life; 29 participants, representing 15.3% of the total, obtained a high level of quality of life; and 6 participants, representing 3.2% of the total, obtained a low quality of life level. Regarding the dimensions, in physical health (83.6%), psychological health (48.1%), social relationships (65.1%) and environment (71.4%), the average quality of life predominated. The dimension with the most difficulty, that is, with a greater presence of low quality of life, was social relations with 33 participants representing 17.5% of the total. Objetivo: En el presente estudio se buscó determinar la calidad de vida en pacientes con tuberculosis pulmonar sensible atendidos en establecimientos de salud del distrito de San Martín de Porres, 2019. Materiales y métodos: Es un estudio de enfoque cuantitativo, siendo su diseño metodológico no experimental, descriptivo y transversal, con una población de 189 pacientes afectados con la enfermedad de tuberculosis pulmonar sensible. La técnica de recolección de datos fue la encuesta y el instrumento de recolección de datos utilizado fue el Cuestionario WHOQOL BREF. Resultados: La calidad de vida se distribuye como sigue, 154 participantes que representan el 81,5% obtuvieron un nivel de calidad de vida media; 29 participantes que representan el 15,3% del total, obtuvieron un nivel de calidad de vida alta; y 6 participantes que representan el 3,2% del total, obtuvieron un nivel de calidad de vida baja. En cuanto a las dimensiones, en salud física (83,6%), salud psicológica (48,1%), relaciones sociales (65,1%) y ambiente (71,4%), predominó la calidad de vida media.
