Emotional support of the nursing staff and anxiety of the surgical user in the immediate preoperative period of a public hospital, Lima - 2021

Abstract

Introduction: Patients undergoing surgery experience stress and anxiety due to operative danger, which leads to psychological and physiological changes that can aggravate or cause complications before and during surgery. In this sense, the nursing staff needs to employ strategies that contribute to the reduction of the anxious stage in surgical patients. Objective: To determine the relationship the emotional support the nursing staff and anxiety of the surgical user in the immediate preoperative period, in the Surgical Center service of a Public Hospital, Lima, 2021. Methods: The study that will be carried out is descriptive correlational with cross section. Simple random probability sampling consists of 90 patients scheduled for surgery aged between 18 and 60 years at a Public Hospital. Likewise, the participants will be surveyed between July and August of the year 2022, through the use of an adapted questionnaire to assess emotional support based on Peplau's theory, which was validated by Madueño (2020) in Peru. Likewise, the level of anxiety will be evaluated with the Hamilton scale, validated by Lobo et al (2002). On the other hand, the data will be processed through non-parametric tests in order to establish the relationship between the emotional support of the nursing staff and the degree of anxiety of the surgical patient.

Introducción: Los pacientes que se someten a una cirugía experimentan estrés y ansiedad debido al peligro operatorio, lo cual conlleva a alteraciones psicológicas y fisiológicas que pueden agravar o causar complicaciones antes y durante la intervención quirúrgica. En ese sentido, el personal de enfermería requiere emplear estrategias que contribuyan a la reducción del estadio ansioso en los pacientes quirúrgicos. Objetivo: Determinar la relación apoyo emocional del personal de enfermería y ansiedad del usuario quirúrgico en el preoperatorio inmediato de un Hospital público, Lima, 2021. Métodos: El estudio que se realizará es descriptivo correlacional con corte transversal. El muestreo probabilístico aleatorio simple estará constituido por 90 pacientes programados para ser intervenidos quirúrgicamente con edades entre 18 a 60 años de un Hospital público. Asimismo, los participantes serán encuestados, mediante la utilización de un cuestionario adaptado para valorar el apoyo emocional con base en la teoría de Peplau, el cual fue validado por Madueño (2020) en el Perú. Asimismo, el nivel ansiedad será evaluado con la escala de Hamilton, validada por Lobo et al (2002). Por otro lado, los datos serán procesado por medio de pruebas no paramétricas con la finalidad de establecer la relación entre el apoyo emocional del personal de enfermería con el grado de ansiedad del paciente quirúrgico
