Coping strategies and stress in patients undergoing hemodialysis therapy at the Igsa clinic - Callao, 2023

Abstract

The chronic renal failure is a disease that generates great physical, functional, emotional and psychosocial deterioration, causing a negative impact on the health of people who suffer from it, seeing the need to apply coping strategies that, in most cases cases, they fail to overcome and cope with their hemodialysis treatment. The present academic work is carried out in order to evaluate the association between coping strategies and stress in patients undergoing hemodialysis therapy at the IGSA Clinic - Callao, year 2023. Using the hypothetical deductive study methodology, with a quantitative approach, type applied with descriptive correlational cross-sectional and non-experimental design; Likewise, a population of 90 patients undergoing hemodialysis therapy will be considered, it will not be necessary to extract a study sample. For the collection of information, the survey technique will be applied and as instruments two Likert structure questionnaires, including a questionnaire to evaluate coping strategies that consists of 41 questions grouped into two dimensions referring to active coping and passive coping with a reliability Cronbach's alpha of 0.873; and to measure the degree of stress, a structured questionnaire will be used with 33 questions distributed in three dimensions referring to cognitive reactions, emotional reactions and physiological reactions with a Cronbach's Alpha reliability of 0.910; Both instruments having prior validation by expert opinion.

La insuficiencia renal crónica es una enfermedad que genera gran deterioro de tipo físico, funcional, emocional y psicosocial ocasionando un impacto negativo en la salud de las personas que la padecen, viéndose en la necesidad de aplicar estrategias de afrontamiento para sobrellevar tratamiento de hemodiálisis. El presente trabajo académico tiene objeto de evaluar la asociación entre las estrategias de afrontamiento y el estrés en pacientes sometidos a terapia de hemodiálisis. Empleando la metodología de estudio hipotético deductivo, enfoque cuantitativo, tipo aplicada con diseño descriptivo correlacional transversal, no experimental; asimismo, se considerará una población de 90 pacientes sometidos a hemodiálisis misma que será la muestra. Para la recopilación de la información se aplicará la técnica de encuestas y como instrumentos dos cuestionarios de estructura Likert, que son: cuestionario para evaluar las estrategias de afrontamiento que consta de 41 preguntas agrupados en dos dimensiones referidas a afrontamiento activo y afrontamiento pasivo con una confiabilidad Alfa de Cronbach de 0.873; y para medir el grado de estrés se usará un cuestionario con 33 preguntas distribuidas en tres dimensiones referidas a reacciones cognitivas, reacciones emocionales y reacciones fisiológicas con una confiabilidad Alfa de Cronbach de 0.910; teniendo ambos instrumentos validación previa por dictamen expertos.
