Sociodemographic characteristics and satisfaction with pre-professional practices of final-year nursing students at the Norbert Wiener University

Abstract

Objective: Determine the relationship that exists between sociodemographic characteristics and the level of satisfaction with pre-professional practices of students in the last cycle of Nursing at the Norbert Wiener Private University. Materials and methods: The research study has a quantitative approach, descriptive, non-experimental, correlational, and cross-sectional design. The sample was 41 students, data collection was carried out through a survey, applying the Likert-type Student Satisfaction Scale instrument. Results: 80.5% of the participants are female, 8 participants (19.5%) are male. Regarding marital status, 68.3% of the total are single; 24.4%, married and only 7.3%, cohabiting. In relation to the place of origin, 70.7% of the total come from the coast; 19.5%, from the mountains and only 9.8%, from the jungle. The population reported feeling moderately satisfied (58.5%), followed by a satisfied result (41.5%). Satisfaction, according to the teaching and academic dimension, is mostly moderately satisfied. According to the chi square statistical test, there is no relationship between both variables. Conclusions: There is no relationship between sociodemographic characteristics and the level of satisfaction with pre-professional practices.

Objetivo: Determinar la relación que existe entre las características sociodemográficas y el nivel de satisfacción con las prácticas pre-profesionales de los estudiantes del último ciclo de Enfermería de la Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener. Materiales y métodos: El estudio de investigación tiene un enfoque tipo cuantitativo, diseño descriptivo, no experimental, correlacional, y de corte transversal. La muestra fue 41 estudiantes, la recolección de datos se realizó mediante encuesta, aplicando el instrumento Escala de satisfacción del estudiante tipo Likert. Resultados: El 80.5% de los participantes son del sexo femenino, 8 participantes (19,5%) del sexo masculino. Con respecto al estado civil, el 68,3% del total, son solteros; el 24.4%, casados y solo el 7,3%, conviviente. En relación al lugar de procedencia, el 70,7% del total, son procedentes de la costa; el 19,5%, de la sierra y solo el 9,8%, de la selva. La población refirió sentirse medianamente satisfecho (58,5%), seguido de un resultado satisfecho (41.5%). La satisfacción, según la dimensión docente y académico, en su mayoría es medianamente satisfecha. Según la prueba estadística chi cuadrado, no existe una relación entre ambas variables. Conclusiones: No existe relación entre las características sociodemográficas y el nivel de satisfacción con las prácticas pre-profesionales.
