Patient safety and perception of the quality of nursing care in the emergency service of a hospital in Lima

Abstract

Introduction: The safety of users becomes an indicator of quality in health institutions, essential in the emergency service. The improvement strategies implemented by health authorities vary from institution to institution; however, all search to improve the quality of care provided by the nursing professional, the backbone of the care offered to the patient and this family in emergency services. Objective: To determine the relationship between patient safety and the perception of care quality in the emergency service of a public hospital in Lima - Metropolitana. Methods: a study with a quantitative approach, hypothetical correlational, non-experimental. The sample will be made up of 108 nursing graduates who work in the emergency area of a Hospital in Lima. Data collect it will use a survey as a technique and the questionnaire modified and adapted by Alvarado that will measure patient safety and the second prepared by Laura and Astete as an instrument; both instruments are validated and with reliability to measure the variables under study. The collected data will be processed using SPSS 26 and Spearman's Rho correlation coefficient will be used to test the hypotheses.

Introducción: La seguridad de los usuarios viene a ser un indicativo de calidad en las instituciones de salud, indispensable en el servicio de emergencia. Las estrategias de mejora implementadas por las autoridades de salud varían de institución a institución, pero todas buscan mejorar la calidad del cuidado que brinda el profesional enfermero columna vertebral de los cuidados que se brinda al paciente y su familia en los servicios de urgencia. Objetivo: Determinar la relación entre la seguridad del paciente y la percepción de la calidad del cuidado de enfermería en el servicio de emergencia de un hospital público de Lima – Metropolitana. Métodos: estudio de enfoque cuantitativo, hipotético correlacional, no experimental. La muestra estará conformada por 108 licenciados enfermeros que trabajan en el área de emergencia de un Hospital de Lima. Para recoger los datos usaremos como técnica una encuesta y como instrumento el cuestionario modificado y adaptado por Alvarado que medirá la seguridad del paciente y el segundo elaborado por Laura y Astete; ambos instrumentos validados y con confiabilidad para medir las variables en estudio. Los datos recolectados serán procesados utilizando SPSS 26 y para contrastar las hipótesis se usará es coeficiente de correlación de Rho de Spearman
