Eating habits and prevalence of children's obesity in schools ages 6 – 11 years of primary education in the regional school of Iquitos. Peru - 2023

Abstract

Objective: To determine how eating habits are related to the prevalence of childhood obesity in schoolchildren from 6 to 11 years of Primary Education at the Regional School of Iquitos Peru- 2023. Methodology: A quantitative, applied, non-experimental, correlational study approach was developed, cross section; The population is made up of 173 primary school students who are studying at the Héroes de la Breña school in Lima, 2022, with a sample of 119. Results. In the study according to sociodemographic characteristics, the sociodemographic characteristics of 119 schoolchildren from 6 to 11 years of primary education at the Regional School of Iquitos Peru- 2023; Regarding age, they were 6 years old in 2.5%, 7 years old in 13.4%, 8 years old in 24.4%, 9 years old in 15.1%, 10 years old in 10.1% and 11 years old in 34.5%. In gender they were Female in 38.7 and Male in 61.3%. In the healthy eating dimension of eating habits with prevalence of childhood obesity, there are normal weights with adequate habits in 47.1%. In the dimension of high-calorie foods of eating habits with prevalence of childhood obesity, where there are normal weights with adequate habits in 44.5%. In the general objective of eating habits with prevalence of childhood obesity, where there are normal weights with adequate habits in 62.2%.

Objetivo: Determinar cómo los hábitos alimenticios se relacionan con la prevalencia de obesidad infantil en escolares de 6 – 11 años de Educación Primaria en el Colegio Regional de Iquitos Perú- 2023. Metodología: Se desarrolló enfoque de estudio cuantitativo, aplicado, no experimental, correlacional, de corte transversal; La población está compuesta por 173 estudiantes de primaria que cursan estudios en el colegio Héroes de la Breña de Lima, 2022, siendo la muestra de 119. Resultados. En el estudio según las características sociodemográficas las características sociodemográficas de 119 escolares de 6 – 11 años de educación primaria en el Colegio Regional de Iquitos Perú- 2023; relacionado a la edad tenían 6 años en 2.5%, de 7 años en 13.4%, de 8 años en 24.4%, de 9 años en 15.1%, de 10 años en 10.1% y de 11 años en 34.5%. En sexo fueron Femenino en 38.7 y Masculino en 61.3%. En la dimensión alimentación saludable de hábitos alimenticios con prevalencia de obesidad infantil, hay normopesos con hábitos adecuados en 47.1%. En la dimensión alimentos de alto contenido calórico de hábitos alimenticios con prevalencia de obesidad infantil, donde hay normopesos con hábitos adecuados en 44.5%. En el objetivo general de hábitos alimenticios con prevalencia de obesidad infantil, donde hay normopesos con hábitos adecuados en 62.2%.
