Relationship of the risk of cardiovascular disease with the level of physical activity in third-party security personnel in a National Hospital of Callao, 2023

Abstract

Overweight and obesity have been a health problem for decades, and they are increasing. The main causes of these are unhealthy eating, lack of physical activity, and consequently chronic diseases such as diabetes mellitus, hypertension, and cardiovascular diseases. According to the World Health Organization, approximately 17.7 million people died from cardiovascular diseases in 2015. The objective of this study is to determine the relationship between cardiovascular disease risk and physical activity levels in third-party security personnel at a National Hospital in Callao, 2023. Descriptive, quantitative method. An evaluation was carried out on 93 participants, applying anthropometry through weight, height, and abdominal circumference for cardiovascular risk, as well as the use of the short version of the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ) in Spanish, which consists of 7 questions. The results were determined and measured using Spearman's correlation coefficient, with a statistically significant p-value of 0.001<0.05. It was concluded that there is a significant relationship between cardiovascular disease risk and physical activity levels in third-party security personnel at the National Hospital in Callao, 2023.

Desde hace décadas el sobrepeso y la obesidad son un problema de salud y cada vez va en aumento, se entiende que sus causas principales son: la alimentación no saludable, falta de actividad física, y como consecuencia se desencadenan enfermedades crónicas como la diabetes mellitus, hipertensión arterial y las enfermedades cardiovasculares. Para la Organización Mundial de la Salud aproximadamente 17,7 millones de personas fallecieron a causa enfermedades cardiovasculares en el año 2015. El objetivo del presente trabajo es determinar la relación entre el riesgo de la enfermedad cardiovascular con el nivel de actividad física en personal de seguridad tercero en un Hospital Nacional del Callao, 2023. Método descriptivo, cuantitativo. Se realizó la evaluación a 93 participantes aplicando la antropometría mediante peso, talla y circunferencia abdominal para el riesgo cardiovascular; uso del Cuestionario Internacional de Actividad Física (IPAQ) versión corta en español que consta de 7 preguntas. Los resultados fueron determinados y medidos por el coeficiente de correlación de Spearman y con un nivel estadístico significativo P-valor 0,001<0,05; por lo que se concluyó que existe relación significativa entre el riesgo de enfermedad cardiovascular y el nivel de actividad física en personal de seguridad tercero en un Hospital Nacional del Callao,2023.
