Knowledge of mommy method techniques kangaroo and nursing practice in the UCI-neonatal service of a hospital, Lima, 2024

Abstract

Preemies can face a number of health and developmental challenges due to their early birth, which can result in long-term disabilities. When they are able to suck, swallow and breathe in a coordinated manner, the reason for hospitalization is weight gain, which is the time to start the "kangaroo mother" method. The nursing staff, thanks to their experience and knowledge, contribute to the development of the premature infant, especially in terms of breastfeeding, attachment and reduction of the baby's stress. Objective: To determine how the level of knowledge of the kangaroo mother method techniques is related to nursing practice in the ICU-Neonatal service of a national hospital, Lima, Lima, 2024. Methodology: Hypothetico-deductive method, with quantitative approach, applied research type, non-experimental design, cross-sectional and correlational level. The population consisted of 21 licensed professional nurses from the neonatal-icu service. A survey in the form of questionnaires will be applied to measure the first study variable by Murillo in Colombia in 2019 (level of knowledge about techniques of the mama kangaroo method) and a checklist (dichotomous) for the second variable by Salas in Lima in 2012 (nursing practice on the mama kangaroo method). For the analysis of the information, we will proceed to form a database where the data will be classified according to their nature, then a descriptive analysis will be made for each variable to then perform the inferential analysis using nonparametric statistics; throughout the research, the universal principles of ethics will be complied with.

Los prematuros pueden enfrentar una serie de desafíos de salud y desarrollo debido a su nacimiento temprano, lo que puede resultar en discapacidades a largo plazo. Cuando son capaces de succionar, deglutir y respirar coordinadamente, la razón para que permanezca hospitalizado es la ganancia de peso, siendo el momento de iniciar con el método “mamá canguro”. El personal de enfermería gracias a su experiencia y conocimientos, contribuyen al desarrollo del prematuro, especialmente en cuanto a la lactancia materna, el apego y la reducción del estrés del bebé. Objetivo: Determinar como el conocimiento sobre técnicas del método mamá canguro se relaciona con la práctica de enfermería en el servicio de UCI-Neonatal de un hospital nacional, lima, 2024. Metodología: Método hipotético-deductivo, con enfoque cuantitativo, tipo de investigación aplicada, diseño no experimental, corte transversal y nivel correlacional. La población consta de 21 profesionales licenciadas en enfermería del servicio uci-neonatal. Se aplicarán una encuesta en forma de cuestionarios para medir la primera variable de estudio por Murillo en Colombia en 2019 (nivel de conocimiento sobre técnicas del método mamá cangro.) y una lista de cotejo (dicotómica), para la segunda variable por Salas en Lima en 2012 (práctica de enfermería sobre el método mamá canguro). Para el análisis de la información se procederá a conformar una base de datos donde se clasificarán los datos según su naturaleza, luego se hará un análisis descriptivo a cada variable para luego realizar el análisis inferencial utilizando la estadística no paramétrica; durante toda la investigación se cumplirán con los principios universales de la ética.
