Nursing knowledge and practices in the care of patients with colostomy in the surgical service of a hospital in San Juan de Lurigancho, Lima - 2024

Abstract

Introduction: Colostomized patients require specific attention regarding colostomy care, in addition to the fundamental role exercised by the patient in their self-care; therefore, nursing professionals must assume their competencies and execute their assisting and educating role to favor their recovery and adequate insertion to their daily life. The objective of the study is: "To determine the relationship between knowledge about colostomy care and practices for the care of the patient with colostomy in nurses of the surgical service of a hospital in San Juan de Lurigancho, Lima - 2024". Methodology: Deductive Method, Approach, Quantitative, Applied Research Type, Descriptive, Correlational and Cross-sectional Design. The population consisted of 60 nurses, to whom 2 instruments will be applied: the first instrument is the "Questionnaire of knowledge of the care of the patient with colostomy directed to the nursing staff" created by León A., which was submitted to expert judgment and has a reliability KR20=0.99. The second instrument is a "Ficha de Observación Directa de las prácticas del cuidado del paciente con colostomía" by Aguirre D. which was validated by expert judgment and has a reliability KR-20= 0.90. The data collected will be analyzed using SPSS version 26 statistical software and will be subjected to descriptive and inferential statistical tests such as Spearman's Rho correlation coefficient to determine the relationship between variables.

Introducción: Los pacientes colostomizados requieren atención específica en cuanto al cuidado de las colostomías, además del rol fundamental que ejerce el paciente en su autocuidado; por lo que los profesionales de enfermería deben asumir sus competencias y ejecutar su rol asistencial y educador para favorecer su recuperación e inserción adecuada a su vida diaria. El estudio tiene como objetivo: “Determinar cómo se relaciona el conocimiento y prácticas de enfermería en el cuidado de pacientes con colostomía en el servicio de cirugía de un hospital de San Juan de Lurigancho, Lima - 2024”. Metodología: Método Deductivo, Enfoque, Cuantitativo, Tipo Investigación Aplicada, Diseño Descriptivo Correlacional y Corte Transversal. Población conformada por 60 enfermeras, a quienes se les aplicará 2 instrumentos: el primer instrumentos es el "Cuestionario de conocimientos del cuidado del paciente con colostomía dirigido al personal de Enfermería" creado por León A. que fue sometido a juicio de expertos y tiene una confiabilidad KR-20=0,99. El segundo instrumento es una “Ficha de Observación Directa de las prácticas del cuidado del paciente con colostomía” de Aguirre D. que validado por juicio de expertos y tiene una confiabilidad KR-20= 0,90. Los datos recolectados serán analizados usando el software estadístico SPSS versión 26 y serán sometidas a pruebas estadísticas descriptivas e inferenciales como el coeficiente de correlación Rho de Spearman para determinar la relación entre las variables.
