Attitude of the nursing professional towards the death of a patient in critical services in times of pandemic in a hospital in Lima – 2020

Abstract

When a person passes away, it is a difficult process to come to terms with, and during these moments, the family and healthcare staff play an important role in decision-making. Therefore, healthcare professionals must demonstrate the right attitude in these situations, as this will positively influence their work and other duties, and most importantly, prevent stress levels from reaching a point where their health is compromised.

Objective: To determine the attitude of nursing professionals toward the death of a patient in critical care services during the pandemic. Materials and methods: This study is quantitative, descriptive, and cross-sectional. The design is non-experimental because the variable will not be deliberately manipulated. The data collection technique used will be a survey. To measure the main variable, the CAM-1 Attitudes Toward Death Questionnaire will be used.

Cuando una persona fallece, es un proceso difícil de asimilar y en esos momentos el familiar y el personal de salud cumplen un rol importante en la toma de decisiones. Por lo tanto, el personal de salud debe de representar una correcta actitud ante esas situaciones ya que ello influirá positivamente en su trabajo y demás quehaceres y sobre todo evitará llegar a extremos del estrés donde se ve comprometida su salud. Objetivo: Determinar la actitud del Enfermería frente a la muerte de un paciente en los servicios críticos en época de pandemia. Material y métodos: El presente estudio es de tipo cuantitativo descriptivo, de corte transversal. El diseño es no experimental porque no se manipulará deliberadamente la variable. Para el proceso de recolección de datos se empleará la técnica de encuesta. Para medir la variable principal se utilizará el cuestionario de Actitudes ante la Muerte CAM-1.
