Evaluation of the occlusal vertical dimension by cephalometric analysis in dentate patients treated at the Norbert Wiener University Dental Center, 2023

Abstract

This thesis aimed to evaluate the occlusal vertical dimension (OVD) through cephalometric analysis in dentate patients treated at the Dental Center of the Universidad Norbert Wiener in 2023. A quantitative, applied, non-experimental, and cross-sectional study design was used. A total of 31 lateral cephalograms of adult dentate individuals were analyzed to establish the OVD, using a data collection sheet through the observation technique of the cephalometries. The first step was to verify general characteristics such as age and sex, then measure the distance from the tip of the nose to the tip of the chin, and finally, the occlusal vertical dimension was established through cephalometric analysis. It was observed that regarding OVD through cephalometric analysis, the upper angle showed a maximum value of 640 and a minimum of 400, with a mean of 51.640; the middle angle had a maximum value of 620 and a minimum of 260, with a mean of 48.030, and the transferred lower angle showed a maximum value of 590 and a minimum of 410, with a mean of 49.640. It was concluded that the occlusal vertical dimension through cephalometric analysis in dentate patients treated at the Dental Center of the Universidad Norbert Wiener in 2023 was an upper angle mean of 51.640, a middle angle mean of 48.030, and a transferred lower angle mean of 49.640.

La presente tesis buscó evaluar la dimensión vertical oclusal por análisis cefalométrico en pacientes dentados atendidos en el Centro Odontológico de la de la Universidad Norbert Wiener, 2023. Se diseñó un estudio cuantitativo, aplicada, de diseño no experimental y transversal; se analizaron 31 telerradiografías de perfil de individuos adultos dentados para establecer la DVO, utilizando una mediante una ficha de recolección de datos mediante la técnica de observación de las cefalometrías, de la siguiente manera: La primera se verificó las características generales como edad y sexo, se midió la distancia de la punta de la nariz a punta de mentón y finalmente se estableció la dimensión vertical oclusal por análisis cefalométrico. Se pudo evidenciar que respecto a la DVO por análisis cefalométrico se observa que el ángulo superior presenta un valor máximo de 640 y mínimo de 400 con una media de 51,640; el ángulo medio presentó un valor máximo de 620 y valor mínimo de 260 con una media de 48,030 y el ángulo inferior transferido presentó un valor máximo de 590 y valor mínimo de 410 con una media de 49,640; concluyendo que La dimensión vertical oclusal por análisis cefalométrico en pacientes dentados atendidos en el Centro Odontológico de la de la Universidad Norbert Wiener, 2023 fue de ángulo superior media de 51,640; ángulo medio valor media de 48,030 y el ángulo inferior transferido media de 49,640.
