dc.description.abstractObjective: To determine the relationship between the level of knowledge and the practices for preventing acute diarrheal diseases in mothers of children under five years old in the Pediatric Service at a hospital in Metropolitan Lima, 2022. Materials and Methods: This study has a quantitative approach, with a descriptive and cross-sectional methodological design. The study uses a non-probabilistic, census sampling method, selecting 58 mothers of children under five years old who visit the Pediatric Service of a hospital in Metropolitan Lima as the sample. After the instruments were applied, statistical analysis and data processing were performed using Microsoft Word 2016 and Microsoft Office Excel 2016, along with the SPSS version 25.0 statistical software. The results were presented in tables and diagrams showing the percentage and numerical distribution of the statistical analysis for each case. Results: The relationship between the level of knowledge in its definition dimension and practices for preventing acute diarrheal diseases shows that 28.5% had low knowledge and unhealthy prevention practices were observed in 38%. The relationship between the level of knowledge in the preventive measures dimension and prevention practices shows that 27.5% had medium knowledge and unhealthy prevention practices. In the relationship between the level of knowledge in the treatment dimension and prevention practices, 24% had low knowledge and unhealthy prevention practices. In the relationship between the level of knowledge and practices for preventing acute diarrheal diseases, 39% had low knowledge and unhealthy prevention practices, with a correlation of 87%.en_US

Materiales y métodos: El trabajo tiene enfoque cuantitativo, el diseño metodológico es descriptivo y de corte transversal. El estudio tiene muestreo no probabilístico, de forma censal, donde se tomaron 58 madres de niños menores de cinco años que acuden al Servicio de Pediatría de un hospital de Lima Metropolitana.es_ES
