Effects of toothpaste with xylitol on the salival profile in 4 year old children of the I.E. Public Nº 20403 Carlos Martínez Uribe. Huaral – Lima 2023

Abstract

The objective of this research was to determine the effect of toothpaste with xylitol on 4-year-old children at the public I.E. No. 20403 Carlos Martínez Uribe, Huaral – Lima 2023. Methodology: The research method used was experimental with a quantitative approach, descriptive type, and longitudinal design. The researcher used a checklist created for a sample of 30 children, divided into two groups. Results: The following observations were made: In the experimental group, which was provided with toothpaste without xylitol on day 1, day 7, and day 21, the salivary pH remained within the range of (6.44±0.05), with a variation of +0.14. However, in the experimental group that received toothpaste with xylitol, the pH remained in the range of 6.38 to 6.90, with a range of (6.90±0.05), showing a variation of +0.52. This indicates that the use of only three doses of toothpaste with xylitol over a short period of time was able to increase the salivary pH compared to conventional toothpaste. Conclusion: The salivary pH of children who used toothpaste without xylitol experienced a variation of +0.52. This variation was positive and significant.

El presente trabajo de investigación tuvo el objetivo de determinar el efecto de la pasta dental con xilitol el en niños de 4 años de la I.E. pública nº 20403 Carlos Martínez Uribe Huaral – Lima 2023 Metodología: El método seguido por la investigadora es el experimental de enfoque cuantitativo, de tipo descriptivo y diseño longitudinal, para lo cual se utilizó como instrumento una ficha de cotejo creado por la autora para una muestra de 30 niños divididos en dos grupos. Resultados: se distingue lo siguiente: en el grupo experimental que solo se les suministro pasta dental sin xilitol en el día 1, día 7 y en el día 21, vemos que el Ph salival se ha mantenido en el rango (6,44±0,05), teniendo una variación de +0.14, sin embargo, el grupo experimental que recibió pasta dental con Xilitol se mantuvo en el rango de 6.38 a 6.90 teniendo un rango (6,90±0,05), teniendo una variación de +052. Esto nos indica el empleo de solo tres dosis de goma de pasta dental con Xilitol en un periodo corto de tiempo ha podido incrementar el pH saliva a diferencia de la pasta convencional. Conclusión: El pH salival de los niños que utilizaron pasta dental sin Xilitol experimentaron una variación de +0.52. Siendo esta variación positivas y significativa.
