dc.description.abstract	The objective of this research was to determine the level of empathic orientation in students from the 4th to 10th cycles of the Dentistry Program at Norbert Wiener University. The study was observational, descriptive, cross-sectional, and retrospective. The sample consisted of 323 students from the 4th to 10th cycles of the program. Empathic orientation was measured using the Jefferson Medical Empathy Scale (JSE). Data analysis was conducted using frequency distribution tables, measures of central tendency, and dispersion. The relationship between variables was evaluated using the Kruskal-Wallis and Mann-Whitney U tests. The study found that the average global empathic orientation score was 107.24. It was found that the academic cycle was statistically related to the global empathic orientation (p: 0.000). However, no statistically significant relationship was found between sex and global empathic orientation (p: 0.274). The study concludes that students in the Dentistry Program obtained high scores for empathic orientation using the Jefferson Medical Empathy Scale. The academic cycle was statistically related to empathic orientation, but no statistically significant relationship was found between sex and empathic orientation.	en_US
dc.description.abstract	El objetivo de la investigación fue determinar la orientación empática en alumnos del cuarto al décimo ciclo de la E.A.P. de Odontología de la Universidad Norbert Wiener. El estudio fue de tipo observacional, descriptivo, transversal y retrospectivo. La muestra estuvo conformada por 323 alumnos del cuarto al décimo ciclo de la carrera. La orientación empática fue determinada mediante la Escala de Empatía Médica de Jefferson (EEMJ). El análisis de los datos se realizó mediante tablas de distribución de frecuencias, medidas de tendencia central y dispersión. La relación entre las variables se evaluó mediante las pruebas Kruskal-Wallis y U de Mann-Whitney. El estudio encontró que el promedio de la orientación empática a nivel global fue de 107,24. Se encontró que el ciclo académico estuvo relacionado estadísticamente con la orientación empática a nivel global (p: 0,000). Sin embargo, no se encontró relación estadísticamente significativa entre el sexo y la orientación empática a nivel global (p: 0,274). El estudio concluye que los alumnos de la E.A.P. de Odontología obtuvieron altas puntuaciones de orientación empática mediante la escala de Empatía Médica de Jefferson. El ciclo académico estuvo relacionado estadísticamente con la orientación empática. No se encontró relación estadísticamente significativa entre el sexo y la orientación empática.	es_ES
