Knowledge level of students in the Second Specialty in Oncology at Norbert Wiener University regarding the management of febrile neutropenia in oncology patients

Abstract

Over time, febrile neutropenia has been observed as one of the most common complications of cancer patients who have received chemotherapy. Due to these complications, many patients find it necessary to postpone their chemotherapy cycles, since their system immune system becomes very susceptible, therefore it begins with a long battle to improve its defenses, it is important that during this period that the patient is going through all the necessary measures are taken to achieve an optimal recovery, this is why the staff nursing must have all the knowledge necessary to provide quality care and help the cancer patient in his prompt recovery so that he can continue with his cancer treatment, the objective of this work is to establish the level of knowledge of the students of the second specialty in oncology of Norbert Wiener University on the management of febrile neutropenia in oncology patients. It will have a quantitative approach, in terms of the methodological design it will be a descriptive research. The population will be made up of 50 nurses who correspond to the second specialty in oncology at the Norbert Wiener University, a survey consisting of closed questions will be used, subsequently the information that is collected will be downloaded into Microsoft Excel and finally will be represented in tables and graphs.

A lo largo del tiempo se ha observado la neutropenia febril como una de las complicaciones más comunes de los pacientes oncológicos que han recibido quimioterapia, debido a estas complicaciones muchos pacientes se van visto en la necesidad de posponer sus ciclos de quimioterapias, ya que su sistema inmunológico queda muy susceptible, por lo tanto comienza con una larga batalla para mejorar sus defensas, es importante que durante este periodo por el cual está atravesando el paciente se tomen todas las medidas necesarias para poder lograr una óptima recuperación, es por esto que el personal de enfermería debe contar con todos los conocimientos necesarios para brindar una atención de calidad y ayudar al paciente oncológico en su pronta recuperación para que el mismo continúe con su tratamiento oncológico, el objetivo de este trabajo es Establecer el nivel de conocimiento de los estudiantes de la segunda especialidad en oncología de la universidad Norbert Wiener sobre el manejo de neutropenia febril en pacientes oncológicos, Será de enfoque cuantitativo, en cuanto al diseño metodológico será una investigación de corte descriptiva. La población estará constituida por 50 enfermeras (os) que corresponden a la segunda especialidad en oncología de la universidad Norbert Wiener, se utilizará una encuesta constituida con preguntas cerradas, posteriormente La información que se logre recaudar se descargará en Microsoft excel y finalmente será representada en tablas y gráficos.
