Emotional intelligence and self-esteem in high school students at a public educational institution in Mala District, 2021

| dc.description.abstract | This study aimed to analyze the relationship between emotional intelligence and self-esteem among secondary school students from a public institution in the district of Mala. The research used the hypothetico-deductive method, with a quantitative, descriptive-correlational approach and a non-experimental design. The sample consisted of 268 students, aged 12 to 17. The instruments used were the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (1965) adapted by Atienza, Balaguer, & Moreno (2000) and the Trait-Meta Mood Scale (TMMS-24) by Salovey and Mayer, adapted by Fernández-Berrocal et al. (2004). The results indicated a strong and highly significant direct correlation between emotional intelligence and self-esteem. No significant differences were found based on gender or age, but a significant result was found in the dimension of emotional intelligence perception, where women showed greater prevalence. | en_US |
| dc.description.abstract | Esta investigación tuvo como propósito analizar la relación entre la inteligencia emocional y la autoestima en alumnos del nivel secundaria de una institución pública del distrito de Mala. Para esta investigación se utilizó el método hipotético deductivo, de enfoque cuantitativo, de tipo descriptivo correlacional; y de diseño no experimental. La muestra estuvo conformada por 268 alumnos de ambos sexos, entre 12 a 17 años. Los instrumentos empleados fueron la escala de autoestima de Rosenberg, 1965; adaptado por Atienza, Balaguer, & Moreno, 2000 y Trait-Meta Mood Scale (TMMS-24) Salovey y Mayer, adaptado por Fernández-Berrocal, P., Extremera, N. y Ramos, N. (2004). Los resultados demostraron que existe correlación directa y muy significativa entre la autoestima y la inteligencia emocional. No se encontraron diferencias significativas de ambas variables de manera general con las variables sexo y edad, pero sí se halló resultado significativo en la dimensión percepción de inteligencia emocional, donde las mujeres presentan mayor predominancia. | es_ES |
