Perception of the therapeutic nursing relationship in parents of newborns hospitalized in the neonatal intensive care unit and neonatology service in a II-2 hospital in the northern cone, Lima 2019

Abstract

The objective was to determine the perception of the therapeutic relationship in parents of newborns hospitalized in the neonatal intensive care unit and neonatology service of a Hospital II-2 of the Northern Cone, Lima 2019. The method was a quantitative, descriptive and cross-sectional, which had a single variable, the technique was the interview and the instrument was a questionnaire of 20 questions, and the sampling was non-probabilistic at the convenience of the researcher, thus making a total of 60 parents of newborns, so no formula was required to be applied. Results: Of 60 parents surveyed, 45% perceive a poor level, 40% mention a medium level and 15% an optimal level. Conclusions: A poor level (45%) of perception in the therapeutic relationship by the nursing staff was determined in the parents of newborns hospitalized in the neonatal intensive care unit and neonatology service of a Hospital II-2 of the Northern Cone. , Lima 2019; which added to the 40% of the average perception, it follows that there is 85% dissatisfaction in the parents' perception regarding the therapeutic nursing relationship.

El objetivo fue determinar la percepción de la relación terapéutica en los padres de recién nacidos hospitalizados en la unidad de cuidados intensivos neonatales y servicio de neonatología de un Hospital II- 2 del Cono Norte, Lima 2019. El método fue una investigación cuantitativa, descriptiva y transversal, la cual contó con una sola variable, la técnica fue la entrevista y el instrumento fue un cuestionario de 20 preguntas, y el muestreo fue no probabilístico a conveniencia de la investigadora, siendo así un total de 60 padres de recién nacidos, por lo que no se requirió de aplicar alguna fórmula. Resultados: De 60 padres encuestados refieren percibir 45% en un nivel deficiente, un 40% menciona un nivel mediano y un 15% un nivel óptimo. Conclusiones: Se determinó un nivel deficiente (45%) de percepción en la relación terapéutica por parte del personal de enfermería en los padres de recién nacidos hospitalizados en la unidad de cuidados intensivos neonatales y servicio de neonatología de un Hospital II- 2 del Cono Norte, Lima 2019; que sumado al 40% de la percepción media, se deduce que existe un 85% de insatisfacción en la percepción de los padres respecto a la relación terapéutica de enfermería.
