Critical review: effect of Zinc and/or vitamin C supplementation as a treatment in the recovery of patients with Covid-19

Abstract

The present work is a secondary research of critical review, which aimed to determine the effect of supplementation with zinc and/or vitamin C as a treatment for the recovery of patients with COVID-19. Evidence-Based Nutrition was used as a methodology. (NuBE), likewise, the systematic search of articles was carried out using Pubmed, Science Direct, Springer Open, Scopus and MDPI as scientific databases, where 55 articles were found, of which 17 were selected to be evaluated by the CASPe tool and in this way a randomized clinical trial titled: “Effect of high-dose zinc and ascorbic acid supplementation vs usual care on symptom length and reduction among ambulatory patients with SARS-CoV-2 infection: The COVID A to Z” was selected. randomized clinical trial", which obtained a level of evidence "I" and a grade of recommendation "Strong" based on the researcher's evaluation in accordance with the application of the CASPe tool, concluding that zinc supplementation and/or vitamin C generates a positive effect in the treatment for the recovery of patients with COVID-19, but it is not statistically significant; Therefore, larger clinical trials must be carried out to demonstrate the importance of said supplementation.

El cáncer de mama inicia cuando las células mamarias empiezan a transformarse en tumorales, las que más adelante empiezan a invadir los tejidos circundantes y hacen metástasis a diferentes órganos del organismo. Se realizó una búsqueda de información usando las siguientes herramientas de búsqueda como SCIELO,, SCIENCE DIRECT, se encontraron 94 artículos, para posteriormente realizar una selección quedando 17 artículos de pasando a ser evaluados por la herramienta para lectura crítica CASPE, seleccionando finalmente el estudio de Casos y Controles titulado como Effect of long-term weight gain on the risk of breast cancer across women’s whole adulthood as well as hormone-changed menopause stages: A systematic review and dose–response meta-analysis, basado en la experiencia del investigador, tiene un nivel de evidencia AI y una recomendación Fuerte. El comentario crítico dio espacio a concluir que el sobrepeso y/o tienen un impacto en el riesgo para de cáncer de mama en la postmenopausia, debido a que la obesidad disminuye la Adiponectina misma que presenta efectos anticancerosos.
