Quality of care of the nursing staff and level of family satisfaction in the intensive care unit of a national hospital, Lima 2024

Abstract

Quality care involves the implementation of a series of actions and procedures that contribute to the patient's healthy recovery. In this context, the needs of family members must align with their expectations and those of the patient.

The objective of this study is to "determine the relationship between the perception of quality care among family members of critically ill patients and their satisfaction with the intensive care unit of the National Hospital in Lima, 2023."

The methods employed will include the hypothetical-deductive approach, quantitative methods, a correlational study, and a cross-sectional design. The sample will consist of 40 participants, all of whom are family members of patients admitted to the ICU.

Data collection will be carried out using a validated questionnaire with established reliability for both the independent and dependent variables (KR-20 = 0.876 and KR-20 = 0.827). The data will be gathered between July and December 2023, after which Excel 2013 and SPSS 26 will be used to record, classify, tabulate, and code the information for analysis, producing tables, charts, and graphs.

The relationships between variables and hypothesis testing will be performed using Pearson's R test, a non-parametric analysis method to evaluate the proposed hypotheses. The results will then be analyzed and interpreted accordingly.

La atención de calidad es la implementación de una serie de acciones y procedimientos que contribuyen a la recuperación saludable del paciente. Entonces las necesidades de los miembros de su familia deben coincidir con sus necesidades y expectativas. El objetivo de este estudio es "determinar la relación entre la percepción de la calidad de la atención de los familiares de pacientes críticos y la satisfacción con la unidad de cuidados intensivos del Hospital Nacional de Lima 2023". Los métodos utilizados serán la deducción hipotética, métodos cuantitativos, correlacional y diseño transversal. La muestra estará formada por 40 participantes, todos familiares de pacientes ingresados en la UCI. El estudio se realizará mediante un cuestionario validado con confiabilidad para variables independientes y dependientes (KR-20 = 0,876 y KR-20 = 0,827). La recopilación de datos se llevará a cabo entre julio y diciembre de 2023, después de lo cual se utilizará Excel 2013 spss 26 para registrar, clasificar, tabular y codificar para el análisis y producir tablas, cuadros y gráficos. Asimismo, las relaciones entre variables y la prueba de hipótesis se realizarán mediante la prueba R de Pearson, que es un análisis no paramétrico que prueba las hipótesis propuestas y luego las analiza e interpreta.
