De Quervain tendinopathy, functional capacity and grip strength in the administrative staff of the Regional Hospital Clinical Surgical Teacher “Daniel Alcides Carrión” – Huancayo 2022

Abstract

According to the WHO, industrialized nations show that one-third of lost working days are related to health issues, which are a significant factor contributing to MSDs. Health problems represent 59% of occupational diseases, compared with more common work-related issues such as those reported by the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work. Musculoskeletal disorders like pain occur at the radial edge of the wrist and base of the thumb due to thickening and entrapment of the short extensor and long abductor tendons, associated with repetitive movements caused by excessive computer use when typing. Quervain’s tenosynovitis is a disorder affecting wrist and hand function, especially the thumb, due to repetitive movements in office workers typing on computers. Materials and Methods: This is a descriptive, correlational, cross-sectional study. To measure Quervain's tenosynovitis, the Finkelstein test will be used for functional capacity; the Sollerman test for grip strength will be measured using a dynamometer.

Según OMS, naciones industrializadas muestran un tercio de días laborales perdidos de trabajadores están relacionadas con problemas de salud, siendo un factor importante que contribuye a TME. Siendo problemas de salud representando 59% de enfermedades profesionales, comparando con trabajos más comunes, como a la Agencia Europea para la Seguridad y la Salud en Trabajo. Los TME, como dolor, se producen en borde radial de muñeca y base del pulgar debido al engrosamiento y atrapamiento de tendones del extensor corto y abductor largo; están asociados a movimientos repetitivos causados por el uso excesivo de computadora al escribir. La Tendinopatía de Quervain, es un trastorno, que afecta la normal funcionalidad de muñeca y mano en especial del pulgar por movimientos repetitivos en personas que trabajan en oficinas al momento de escribir en computadora. Material y métodos: Estudio descriptivo, correlacional y de corte transversal, para medir la tendinopatía de Quervain se utilizará: Test de Finkelstein, para la capacidad funcional Test de Sollerman y para la fuerza de prensión se utilizará el dinamómetro.
