Effectiveness of myofascial release on pain intensity, lumbar spine flexibility and quality of life in patients with chronic lumbalgia at a hospital in Lima, 2023

Abstract

Low back pain significantly affects quality of life and function, being the most common and potentially disabling in 60% of cases, disrupting the work life of more than half of the population. There are many treatment approaches in physiotherapy commonly applied, but the use of manual therapy, which includes myofascial release techniques (applying mild load and stretching), allows for the mobilization of the muscle complex, returning it to its optimal length, relieving pain, and improving patient functionality. Therefore, it is necessary to apply this technique to optimize treatments in the Rehabilitation service of a hospital.

El dolor lumbar afecta significativamente la calidad de vida y la función, siendo el más común y puede ser discapacitantes en un 60% alterando la vida laboral en más da la mitad de la población. Existen muchos enfoques de tratamientos en la fisioterapia que se aplican comúnmente, pero la aplicación de la terapia manual en la que se encuentra las técnicas de liberación miofascial, que incluye la aplicación de una carga débil y estiramiento, permite la movilización del complejo muscular, devolviéndole a la longitud óptima, aliviando el dolor y mejorando la funcionalidad del paciente. Por todo lo dicho anteriormente es necesario aplicar dicha técnica para optimizar los tratamientos en el servicio de Rehabilitación de un hospital.
