Nutritional Status and Dynapenia in hospitalized surgical patients treated at the María Auxiliadora Hospital, 2022

Abstract

Objective: To analyze the relationship between nutritional status and dynapenia in surgical patients hospitalized at the María Auxiliadora 2022 hospital. Method: This is an analytical study with a quantitative approach. Non-experimental design; correlational, prospective and transversal. The sample is 88 patients with a non-probabilistic sampling for convenience. Results: Of the 88 hospitalized patients included in the study, 72.7% are between 18 and 60 years of age, 34.1% correspond to gastrointestinal surgery. 52.3% are overweight, the typical patient is 42.3+18.0 years old, weight 73.3+12.7 Kg, height 1.65+0.1 m, Body Mass Index (BMI) of 26.7+3.7 Kg/m2, Triceps Skin Fold ( PCT) of 13.1+5.5 mm and Arm Muscle Circumference (WBC) 27.5+2.8 cm. Nutritional screening found that 15.9% present moderate to severe malnutrition by VGS and 68.2% with NRS 2002. 25% present fat depletion according to PCT and there is no presence of muscle depletion with the CMB indicator. Only 1.1% dynapenia.

Objetivo: Analizar la relación entre estado nutricional y la dinapenia en pacientes quirúrgicos hospitalizados en el hospital María Auxiliadora 2022. Método: Se trata de un estudio analítico con un enfoque cuantitativo. Diseño No experimental; correlacional, prospectivo y transversal. La muestra es de 88 pacientes con un muestreo no probabilístico por conveniencia.

Resultados: De los 88 pacientes hospitalizados incluidos en el estudio, el 72.7% tienen entre 18 a 60 años de edad, 34.1% corresponden a cirugía gastrointestinal. El 52.3% presenta sobrepeso, el paciente tipo, tiene 42.3+18.0 años de edad, peso 73.3+12.7 Kg, Talla 1.65+0.1 m, Índice de Masa Corporal (IMC) de 26.7+3.7 Kg/m2, Pliegue Cutáneo de Tríceps (PCT) de 13.1+5.5 mm y Circunferencia Muscular de Brazo (CMB) 27.5+2.8 cm. El tamizaje nutricional encontró que 15.9% presenta desnutrición moderada a severa por VGS y 68.2% con NRS 2002. El 25% presenta depleción de grasa de acuerdo a PCT y no hay presencia de depleción muscular con el indicador CMB. Solo 1.1% de dinapenia.
