Knowledge and practices of exclusive breastfeeding in mothers of children under 6 months of age who arrive at the Oasis de Villa Medical Clinic, Villa el Salvador 2023

Abstract

Exclusive breastfeeding is the perfect and ideal food that every child should receive, so according to the World Health Organization (WHO) among other institutions, they recommend exclusive breastfeeding during the first six months of the child's life and the continuation of breastfeeding along with appropriate complementary meals, up to two years of age (1,2). OBJECTIVE: To determine the knowledge and practice of exclusive breastfeeding in mothers of children under 6 months who arrive at the Oasis de Villa Medical Office, Villa el Salvador 2022. METHODOLOGY: A hypothetical - deductive method is used with a quantitative and applied type approach and an not experimental, correlational, cross-sectional design in a sample of 85 mothers of children under 6 months of age who arrive at the Oasis de Villa Medical Clinic, Villa el Salvador 2022 and are configured for data collection as an instrument a questionnaire to assess knowledge and an observation sheet to assess the practice of exclusive breastfeeding. DATA PROCESSING: after collecting the data from the sample, these responses will be coded and placed in tables of frequencies and percentages, then their analysis will be carried out in the SPSS v26.0 program; First performing non-parametric statistics and after that, chi-square tests will be performed for hypothesis contrast.

La lactancia materna exclusiva es el alimento perfecto e ideal que todo niño debe recibir, por eso según la Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS) entre otras instituciones, recomiendan la alimentación exclusiva con leche materna durante los primeros seis meses de vida del niño y la continuación del amamantamiento junto con las comidas complementarias adecuadas, hasta los dos años de edad. OBJETIVO: Determinar los conocimientos y la práctica de la lactancia materna exclusiva en las madres de los niños menores de 6 meses que llegan al Consultorio Médico Oasis de Villa, Villa el Salvador 2022. METODOLOGÍA: Se utilizará un método hipotético – deductivo con un enfoque cuantitativo, tipo de investigación aplicada y un diseño no experimental, correlacional, transversal, tendrá una muestra de 85 madres de niños menores de 6 meses que llegan al Consultorio Médico Oasis de Villa, Villa el Salvador 2023, para la recolección de datos se utilizará dos instrumentos un cuestionario para evaluar el conocimiento y una ficha de observación para evaluar la práctica de la lactancia materna exclusiva. PROCESAMIENTO DE DATOS: posterior a recolectar los datos de la muestra se procederá a dar una codificación a dichas respuestas y se colocará en tablas de frecuencias y porcentajes, posteriormente se realizará su análisis en el programa SPSS v26.0; primero realizando estadística no paramétrica y posterior a ello se realizarán pruebas de chi cuadrado para el contraste de hipótesis.
