Burnout syndrome in nursing staff in the COVID-19 area at National Arzobispo Loayza Hospital, 2020

Abstract

Objective: Determine the level of burnout syndrome in the nursing staff of the COVID 19 hospitalization area at the Arzobispo Loayza National Hospital, 2020 Material and method: The type of research is descriptive, cross-sectional, with a quantitative, observational approach; in which a total of 63 nursing graduates from the Arzobispo Loayza National Hospital were included; using the Maslasch Burnout Inventory as an instrument, which had an adequate internal consistency of 0.777. Results: The level of the emotional exhaustion dimension was low in 68.3%, followed by 17.5% with a medium level; Regarding the depersonalization dimension, a low level was obtained in 60.3%, 33.3% had a medium level; and in the dimension of personal fulfillment they obtained a high level in 41.3%, and 33.3% had a low level. Regarding Burnout syndrome, 44.4% had a medium level, 39.7% had a low level and 15.9% obtained a high level of this syndrome. Conclusions: It is concluded that the level of Burnout syndrome among the nursing graduates in the COVID 19 area at the Arzobispo Loayza National Hospital during the year 2020 is average at 44.4%.

Objetivo: Determinar el nivel de síndrome burnout en el personal de enfermería del área de hospitalización COVID 19 en el Hospital Nacional Arzobispo Loayza, 2020 Material y método: El tipo de investigación es descriptivo, de corte transversal, con un enfoque cuantitativo, observacional; en el que se incluyeron a un total de 63 licenciadas de enfermería del Hospital Nacional Arzobispo Loayza; empleándose como instrumento el Inventario de Burnout de Maslasch, el cual tuvo una consistencia interna adecuada de 0.777. Resultados: El nivel de la dimensión de cansancio emocional fue bajo en el 68.3%, seguido por un 17.5% con nivel medio; en cuanto a la dimensión despersonalización se obtuvo un nivel bajo en el 60.3%, el 33.3% tuvo un nivel medio; y en la dimensión de realización personal obtuvieron un nivel alto en el 41.3%, y el 33.3% tuvieron un nivel bajo. En cuanto al síndrome Burnout, el 44.4% tuvo un nivel medio, 39.7% tuvo un nivel bajo y un 15.9% obtuvo un alto grado de este síndrome. Conclusiones: Se concluye que el nivel de síndrome Burnout entre los(as) licenciados(as) enfermería del área COVID 19 en el Hospital Nacional Arzobispo Loayza durante el año 2020, es medio en el 44.4%.
