Effectiveness of hearing protectors for the prevention of hearing loss in workers exposed to noise

Abstract

The academic work is a Systematic Review that synthesizes the results of multiple investigations. The search was restricted to articles with full text submitted to a critical reading, using the GRADE system to assign the strength of recommendation. In the final selection, 10 articles were chosen, finding that 20% (02) of the total articles correspond to Spain. , another 20% (02) corresponds to Chile, 20% (02) more to Brazil, while 10% (01) corresponds to Mexico, another 10% (01) to Colombia, 10% (1) to Paraguay and finally another 10% (01) corresponds to the United Kingdom. These are mostly descriptive (40%), followed by quasi-experimental studies (30%), systematic review (10%), pre-experimental studies (10%), cohorts (10%), where of the total articles analyzed 90% affirm that hearing protectors are effective in preventing hearing loss, while 10% affirm that there is no significant information that supports the idea of ​​better attenuation with the use of hearing protectors. The conclusion of this review is that hearing protectors are effective in preventing hearing loss in workers exposed to noise; There are also factors that can alter its effectiveness, such as the correct use of hearing protectors by the worker and training.

El trabajo académico es una Revisión Sistemática que sintetiza los resultados de múltiples investigaciones. La búsqueda fue restringida a artículos con texto completo sometidos a una lectura crítica, utilizando el sistema GRADE para asignar la fuerza de recomendación, en la selección definitiva se eligieron 10 artículos, encontrándose que el 20% (02) del total de artículos corresponde a España, otro 20 % (02) corresponde a Chile, 20% (02) más a Brasil, mientras que un 10% (01) corresponde a México, otro 10% (01) a Colombia, 10%(1) a Paraguay y por último otro 10% (01) corresponde a Reino Unido. Estos en su mayoría son descriptivos (40%), seguido de los estudios cuasi experimentales (30%), revisión sistemática (10%), estudios pre-experimentales (10%), cohortes (10%), donde del total de artículos analizados el 90% afirma que los protectores auditivos son efectivos en la prevención de la hipoacusia mientras que, el 10% afirma que no existe información significativa que apoye la idea de una mejor atenuación con el uso de por protectores auditivos. La conclusión de esta revisión es que los protectores auditivos son efectivos en la prevención de la hipoacusia en trabajadores expuestos a ruido; asimismo existen factores que pueden alterar su eficacia, tales como el uso correcto de los protectores auditivos por parte del trabajador y la capacitación.
