Effectiveness of parenteral nutrition on quality of life in patients with gastrointestinal cancer

Abstract

Objective: Systematize the evidence on the effectiveness of parenteral nutrition on the quality of life of patients with gastrointestinal cancer. Material and Methods: The type of study is quantitative, the design of a systematic review was obtained from the following databases Pubmed, Scielo, Medline, Dialnet, ProQuest, Google Scholar, Tripdatabase, Cochrane. Of the 10 articles reviewed, 60% (n= 6/10) are clinical trials, 30% (n= 3/10) are observational studies and 10% (n= 1/10) are systematic reviews, according to the Quality of evidence was found to be high at 70%. According to the strength of recommendation it is strong at 70%, depending on the country where the investigations were carried out, 30% (3/10) corresponds to France, 30% (3/10) to Germany, 10% (1/10 ) corresponds to Israel, 10% (1/10) corresponds to China, 10% (1/10) corresponds to Denmark, and 10% (1/10) corresponds to the United States. Results: According to the review, it is evident that 100% of the articles (n = 10/10) indicate that the effectiveness of parenteral nutrition is effective in improving the quality of life of patients with gastrointestinal cancer. Conclusions: It is found that 10 of the 10 evidence studied conclude that parenteral nutrition is effective in improving the quality of life of patients with gastrointestinal cancer.

Objetivo: Sistematizar la evidencia sobre la efectividad de la nutrición parenteral en la calidad de vida del paciente con cáncer gastrointestinal. Material y Métodos: El tipo de estudio es cuantitativo, el diseño de una revisión sistemática, fueron obtenidos de las siguientes bases de datos Pubmed, Scielo, Medline, Dialnet, ProQuest, Google académico, Tripdatabase, Cochrane. De los 10 artículos revisados el 60% (n= 6/10) son Ensayos clínicos, 30% (n= 3/10) son estudios observacionales y el 10% (n= 1/10) es revisión sistemática, de acuerdo con la calidad de la evidencia se encontró alta en un 70%. De acuerdo con la fuerza de recomendación es fuerte al 70%, según el país donde se realizaron las investigaciones corresponde 30% (3/10) a Francia, el 30% (3/10) a Alemania, el 10% (1/10) corresponde a Israel, el 10% (1/10) corresponde a China, 10% (1/10) corresponde a Dinamarca, y el 10% (1/10) corresponde a Estados Unidos. Resultados: Según la revisión se evidencia que de los artículos el 100% (n = 10/10) señalan que la efectividad de la Nutrición parenteral es efectiva en la mejora de calidad de vida del paciente con cáncer gastrointestinal. Conclusiones: Se encuentra que 10 de las 10 evidencias estudiadas concluyen que la Nutrición parenteral es efectiva en la mejora de calidad de vida del paciente con cáncer gastrointestinal.
