Resumen
Obstetric Emergency Psychoprophylaxis (PPO-EM) is a valuable tool for obstetricians and a beneficial opportunity for pregnant women who were unable to undergo prenatal preparation on time. PPO-EM is the preparation given to the pregnant woman just days before the expected date of delivery or the one offered to the laboring woman during labor. A clinical case is presented of a first-time pregnant adolescent without preparation and prenatal care, in labor with morbid obesity and severe preeclampsia as obstetric risk factors, who was provided with PPO-EM, resulting in a vaginal delivery and healthy maternal and perinatal outcomes. By providing PPO-EM by a qualified obstetric professional to the adolescent pregnant woman, the automatic response of conditioned behavior and active participation were achieved, along with emotional support, which facilitated an attitude change. As a result, her labor progressed without any additional risk factors beyond the ones already present. These outcomes highlight the contribution of PPO-EM in improving the quality of life and care for pregnant women and newborns, and consequently, for society.
