The World Health Organization (WHO) reports that colorectal cancer is the third leading cause of death worldwide, making it a public health issue due to its high incidence. This research, titled "Influence of intestinal dysbiosis on the development of colorectal cancer," was developed as a critical review. The objective was to evaluate the available scientific research through a critical reading using the Critical Appraisal Skills Programme (CASPE) tool on studies published about the influence of intestinal microbiome alterations (intestinal dysbiosis) in the development of colorectal cancer. The clinical question was: Does intestinal dysbiosis influence the development of colorectal cancer? The methodology used was Evidence-Based Nutrition (NuBE). The search for information was conducted in WEB OF SCIENCE, SCOPUS, EMBASE, PUBMED, SCIELO, DOAJ, SCIENCE DIRECT, ERIHPLUS, HINARIN, finding 114 articles, with 17 selected and evaluated using the CASPE tool. The systematic review titled "Fusobacterium nucleatum in the colorectum, and its association with cancer risk and survival: a systematic review and meta-analysis" was selected, with evidence level II and a strong recommendation grade, according to the researcher’s opinion. The critical commentary concludes that intestinal dysbiosis, especially the increase of Fusobacterium nucleatum, plays an important role in the development and prognosis of colorectal cancer. However, more clinical trials in humans are needed to establish Fusobacterium nucleatum as a causal factor or biomarker for development, which could generate low-cost diagnostic tools, as well as prophylactic and/or therapeutic measures.
Resumen
La organización mundial de la salud (OMS), informa que el cáncer colon rectal como la tercera causa de muerte a nivel mundial siendo considerado un problema de salud pública debido a su alta incidencia. La presente investigación, influencia de la disbiosis intestinal en el desarrollo de cáncer colon rectal ha sido desarrollada como una revisión crítica. El objetivo fue, evaluar la investigación científica disponible a través de una lectura crítica de la misma usando la herramienta Critical Appraisal Skills Programme Español (CASPE) en estudios publicados sobre la influencia de las alteraciones del microbioma intestinal (disbiosis intestinal) en el desarrollo de cáncer colon rectal. La pregunta clínica fue: ¿existe Influencia de la disbiosis intestinal en el desarrollo de cáncer colon rectal? Se utilizo la herramienta la metodología Nutrición Basada en Evidencia (NuBE). La búsqueda de información se realizó en WEB OF SCIENCE, SCOPUS, EMBASE, PUBMED, SCIELO, DOAJ, SCIENCE DIRECT, ERIHPLUS, HINARIN encontrando 114 artículos, siendo seleccionados 17 que han sido evaluados por la herramienta para lectura crítica CASPE. Siendo seleccionado finalmente la Revisión sistemática Titulada como Fusobacterium nucleatum in the colorectum, and its association with cancer risk and survival: a systematic review and meta-analysis el cual pose un nivel de evidencia II y un grado de recomendación fuerte a criterio del investigador. El comentario crítico permite concluir que la disbiosis intestinal especialmente el aumento de Fusarium Nucleatum juega un papel importante el desarrollo del cancer colon rectal, así como el pronóstico. Sin embargo, es necesario mayores ensayos clínicos en humanos que permitan establecer a Fusarium nucleatum como factor causal o biomarcador del desarrollo pudiéndose generar herramientas diagnosticas de bajo costo, así como medidas profilácticas y/o terapéuticas.
