Level of knowledge and attitude of mothers about the kangaroo mother method in the neonatal and intermediate intensive care unit of a hospital in Puente Piedra, Lima 2024

Abstract

In the world, neonatal prematurity is a problem for the health system as well as for the family and society, in that sense the use of the kangaroo mother method is a model of care for premature babies to improve through humanized and safe treatment, the reduction of mortality, increased quality of life and therefore reduced hospitalization time; based on exclusive breastfeeding, early stimulation, thermoregulation by skin-to-skin contact between mother and newborn. The objective is to “Determine the level of knowledge and attitude of mothers about the kangaroo mother method in the Neonatal and Intermediate Intensive Care Unit of a Puente Piedra Hospital. Lima, 2024”. The methodology that will be used will be a hypothetical deductive method, quantitative and descriptive, correlational, non-experimental approach. The sample will consist of 98 mothers of premature neonates hospitalized in the Neonatal and Intermediate Intensive Care Unit of the Puente Piedra hospital. A questionnaire will be applied to measure the level of knowledge and at the same time another scale questionnaire will be applied to measure the level of attitude of the mothers. The data will be processed using descriptive and inferential statistics with the help of SPSS and Excell computing. The results, as appropriate, will be illustrated in tables, figures and, among others, as appropriate; On the other hand, the Rho Spearman will be used to measure the correlation of the variables.

En el mundo la prematuridad neonatal es problema para el sistema sanitario, así como también para la familia y sociedad, en ese sentido el empleo del método de mamá canguro es un modelo de asistencia al prematuro para mejorar mediante un trato humanizado y seguro, la reducción de la mortalidad, aumento de la calidad de vida y por tanto lograr disminuir del tiempo de hospitalización; fundamentado en la lactancia materna exclusiva, estimulación temprana, termorregulación por contacto piel a piel entre la mamá y el neonato. El objetivo es “Determinar el nivel de conocimiento y actitud de las madres sobre el método mamá canguro en la Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos Neonatales e Intermedios de un Hospital de Puente Piedra. Lima, 2024”. La metodología que se empleará será un método hipotético deductivo, enfoque cuantitativo y de tipo descriptivo, correlacional, no experimental. La muestra estará constituida por 98 Madres de los neonatos prematuros hospitalizados en la Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos Neonatales e Intermedios del hospital de Puente Piedra. Se aplicará un cuestionario para medir el nivel de conocimiento y a su vez otro cuestionario escala para medir el nivel de actitud de las madres. Los datos serán procesados empleando estadística descriptiva e inferencial mediante la ayuda de informática de SPSS y Excell. Los resultados según corresponda se ilustrará en tablas, figuras y entre otros según corresponda; por otro lado, para medir la correlación de las variables se empleará el Rho Spearman.
