Effectiveness of music therapy in reducing pain and anxiety in cancer patients

Abstract

Materials and Methods: The systematic observational and retrospective review, the search was restricted to articles with full text, and the selected articles were subjected to a critical reading, using the grade system to assign the strength of recommendation. Results: In the final selection, 10 articles were chosen, finding that 40% (4) of the evidence found came from the United States, followed by 20% (2) Brazil, 10% (1) Chille and finally 10% (1 ) come from Germany. The total number of articles analyzed affirms the effectiveness of music therapy in reducing pain and anxiety in cancer patients. Conclusions: It was evident in the research reviewed that the use of music therapy is a promising, safe alternative to reduce pain and anxiety in cancer patients.

Materiales y Métodos: La revisión Sistemática observacional y retrospectiva, la búsqueda se ha restringido artículos con texto completo, y los artículos seleccionados se sometieron a una lectura crítica, utilizando el sistema grade para asignar la fuerza de recomendación. Resultados: En la selección definitiva se eligieron 10 artículos, encontrando que el 40% (4) de las evidencias encontradas proceden de Estados Unidos, seguida del 20% (2) Brasil, 10% (1) Chille y por último 10% (1) proceden de Alemania. El total de artículos analizados afirma la eficacia de la musicoterapia para reducir el dolor y la ansiedad del paciente con cáncer. Conclusiones: Se evidenció en las investigaciones revisadas, que el uso de la musicoterapia es una alternativa prometedora, segura para disminuir el dolor y la ansiedad en el paciente con cáncer.
