Relationship between anxiety levels and depression in university students of health sciences attending the mental health center of Lince, Lima - 2023

Abstract

Introduction: In the world mental problems are increasingly growing, being anxiety and depression the ones that lead this range, mostly these pathologies are usually evidenced by sadness, sudden mood changes, stop doing things they used to like to do, feel a lot of fear, fear and even think about suicide. In such a way that the population most affected by these mental problems are university students, because they tend to deal with a lot of academic, as well as social and family burden. Objective: " To determine the relationship between the level of anxiety and the level of depressive symptoms in university students in health sciences attending the mental health center of Lince, Lima - 2023." Methods: The analysis is a quantitative approach, correlational and descriptive design. The population consisted of 134 university student in health sciences patients treated at the CSM of Lince, with a sample of 99 individuals, using the finite sample formula. For the data collection sample, the Generalized Anxiety Disorder Scale GAD-7 questionnaire will be used, as well as the Generalized Depression Disorder Scale PHQ-9, whose instruments were validated by factorial values: 0.97 and 0.95, which show a high level of reliability. That is why the data will be collected to be processed in order to be able to perceive how much relationship there is in both variables, and thus be able to perceive how much anxiety and depression there is in the students.

En el mundo los problemas mentales van aumentando, siendo la ansiedad y la depresión los que lideran. Es por eso que los más afectados son los estudiantes universitarios, debido a que ellos luchan con mucha carga académica, social y familiar. Objetivo: “Determinar cuál es la relación entre el nivel de ansiedad con el nivel de los síntomas de depresión en estudiantes universitarios de CS que se atienden en el CSM de Lince, Lima – 2023” Métodos: El análisis es de enfoque cuantitativo, correlacional de diseño descriptivo. La población está constituida por 134 pacientes estudiantes universitarios de C.S. que se atienden en el CSM de Lince, siendo la muestra de 99 individuos la cual se efectuó mediante la fórmula de muestras finitas. Para la muestra de recopilación de datos se utilizará el cuestionario de Escala para el Trastorno de Ansiedad Generalizada GAD-7 así como también la Escala para el Trastorno de Depresión Generalizada PHQ-9, cuyos instrumentos fueron validados por valores factoriales: 0,97 y 0,95, los cuales muestran un alto nivel de confiabilidad. Es por ello que los datos se recogerán para ser procesados con el fin de poder percibir que tanta relación hay en ambas variables, y así poder percibir que tanta ansiedad y depresión hay en los estudiantes
