Knowledge and nursing care for the patient with central venous catheter in the critical emergency unit of a national hospital, Lima 2023

Abstract

Introduction: The central venous catheter is a fundamental and specialized biomedical device in the treatment of a patient in critical condition, so it is necessary for the nurse to have the necessary knowledge and offer adequate care in order to avoid infections associated with health care. Objective: To determine how knowledge and nursing care are related to patients with a central venous catheter in a critical emergency unit of a National Hospital. Materials and methods: Quantitative approach, applied type, non-experimental or observational, cross-sectional and correlational design, where a population of 80 nurses will be considered. Two instruments with acceptable reliability and validity criteria will be applied. In relation to the questionnaire that will assess the level of knowledge, it will have 22 multiple-choice questions and includes 4 dimensions, while the checklist that will assess nursing care will have 62 items classified in 3 dimensions. For the analysis of the data collected, they will be organized in a descriptive way by means of tables that indicate the quantity and percentage, while the inference will be developed by means of Spearman's Rho coefficient to determine the existence of the relationship between variables.

Introducción: El catéter venoso central es un dispositivo biomédico fundamental y especializado en el tratamiento de un paciente en condición crítica por lo que es necesario que la enfermera cuente con los conocimientos necesarios y ofrezca los cuidados adecuados con el propósito de evitar infecciones que se asocien a las atenciones en salud. Objetivo: Determinar de qué manera se relaciona el conocimiento y el cuidado de enfermería en el paciente con catéter venoso central en una unidad crítica de emergencia de un Hospital Nacional. Materiales y métodos: Enfoque cuantitativo, tipo aplicada, diseño no experimental u observacional, transversal y correlacional, donde se considerará a una población de 80 enfermeras. Se aplicará dos instrumentos con criterios de confiabilidad y validez aceptables. En relación al cuestionario que evaluará el nivel de conocimientos contará con 22 preguntas de alternativa múltiple y comprende 4 dimensiones, mientras que la lista de chequeo que evaluará los cuidados enfermeros contará con 62 ítems clasificados en 3 dimensiones. Para el análisis de los datos recolectados se procederá a organizarlos de forma descriptiva por medio de tablas que indiquen la cantidad y porcentaje, mientras que la inferencia se desarrollará por medio del coeficiente Rho de Spearman para la determinación de la existencia de la relación entre variables
