Perception and adherence to insulin therapy in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus, from the comprehensive diabetes and hypertension care center - essalud, lima 2021

Abstract

Objective: The present study aims to determine the relationship between perception and adherence to insulin therapy in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus at the Comprehensive Diabetes and Hypertension Care Center - Essalud, Lima 2021 Methodology: Type of applied research, quantitative approach, observational (non-experimental), descriptive, correlational, prospective and cross-sectional research design. With a sample consisting of 67 people with type 2 diabetes mellitus on insulin treatment, who come for care to the Comprehensive Diabetes and Hypertension Care Center - Essalud. The data collection instruments to be used are: To measure insulin perception, the Insulin Treatment Perception Scale (ITAS), with 5 dimensions and 20 items; and to measure insulin adherence, the Morisky Medication Adherence Scale (MMAS-8), with 3 dimensions and 8 items.

Objetivo: El presente estudio tiene por objetivo determinar la relación entre la percepción y la adherencia a la terapia con insulina en pacientes con diabetes mellitus tipo 2 del Centro de Atención Integral de Diabetes e Hipertensión – Essalud, Lima 2021 Metodología: Tipo de investigación aplicada, de enfoque cuantitativo, diseño de investigación observacional (no experimental), descriptivo, correlacional, prospectivo y transversal. Con una muestra constituida por 67 personas con diabetes mellitus tipo 2 en tratamiento con insulina, que acuden para su atención al Centro de Atención Integral de Diabetes e Hipertensión – Essalud. Los instrumentos de recolección de datos a emplear son: Para medir percepción a la insulina la Escala de Percepción del tratamiento de insulina (ITAS), con 5 dimensiones y 20 ítems; y para medir adherencia a la insulina, la escala de Adherencia a la medicación de Morisky (MMAS-8), con 3 dimensiones y 8 ítems.
