Depression and quality of life in adults with chronic renal failure who receive hemodialysis from an EsSalud hospital, Callao – 2023

Abstract

Introduction: Depression in any of its states causes emotional pain, affecting people in their work and family activities, increasing the suicide rate, due to not receiving timely treatment to help them overcome this stage. Objective: To determine the relationship between depression and quality of life in adults with chronic renal failure receiving hemodialysis at Hospital de EsSalud, Callao-2023. Methods: The construction of scientific knowledge of this investigative construct will be under the protection of the hypothetical - deductive method. The design is non-experimental. The census sample will consist of 80 patients with chronic renal failure who receive hemodialysis at the Hospital under study. The survey will be used to apply two questionnaires on a Likert-type scale adapted by Ocharán for the target population, they are validated and reliable to measure the variables in question. The collected data will be processed in SPSS 25 and the hypotheses will be tested using the statistical test of Spearman's correlation coefficient given the qualitative nature of the variables.

La depresión en cualquiera de sus estados causa dolor emocional afectando a las personas en sus actividades laborales y familiares, aumentando la tasa de suicidios, por no recibir un tratamiento oportuno que le ayude a superar esta etapa. Objetivo: Determinar la relación entre depresión y calidad de vida en adultos con insuficiencia renal crónica que reciben hemodiálisis en el Hospital de EsSalud, Callao-2023. Métodos: La construcción del conocimiento científico de este constructo investigativo estará bajo el amparo del método hipotético – deductivo. El diseño es no experimental. La muestra censal estará constituida por 80 pacientes con insuficiencia renal crónica que reciben hemodiálisis en el Hospital objeto de estudio. Se usará la encuesta para aplicar dos cuestionarios en escala de tipo Likert adaptados por Ocharán para la población objetivo, están validados y son confiables para medir las variables en cuestión. Los datos recolectados serán procesados en SPSS 25 y las hipótesis se probarán usando la prueba estadística del coeficiente de correlación de Spearman dado la naturaleza cualitativa de las variables.
