Level of knowledge and practice on biosafety measures for central venous catheter care in emergency patients of a hospital in Lima, Lima-2022

Abstract

The emergency setting receives patients with different cases and nursing professionals must be properly prepared to provide care that meets their needs. However, it has been possible to detect that there are still a multiplicity of deficiencies that must be corrected to optimize nursing care. One of them focuses on the insufficient level of knowledge and practice on biosafety measures for the care of central venous catheters in patients who arrive in critical condition, a situation that exposes them to losing their lives. MATERIALS AND METHODS: It will be a quantitative, basic, descriptive-correlational, non-experimental and transversal study. 66 nursing professionals will participate. A questionnaire and an observation sheet will be applied that will allow the two study variables to be measured.

El ámbito de emergencia recibe pacientes con diferentes casuísticas y los profesionales de enfermería deben estar debidamente preparados para brindar una atención que responda a sus necesidades. Sin embargo, se ha podido detectar que aún existen una multiplicidad de deficiencias que es necesario ir subsanando para optimizar los cuidados de enfermería. Una de ellas se centra en el insuficiente nivel de conocimiento y práctica sobre medidas de bioseguridad para el cuidado de catéter venoso central en pacientes que llegan en estado crítico, situación que los expone a perder la vida. MATERIALES Y MÉTODOS: Será un estudio cuantitativo, básico, descriptivo-correlacional, no experimental y transversal. Participarán 66 profesionales de enfermería. Se aplicará un cuestionario y una ficha de observación que permitirán medir las dos variables de estudio.
