Level of knowledge and its relation to nursing practice about neurodevelopmental centered care of the premature newborn in the neonatal intensive care unit of Huacho 2021

Abstract

Care focused on neurodevelopment is the actions provided by the nursing professional to guarantee the continuity of the neurological development of the newborn in the extrauterine environment, including interventions aimed at controlling external stimuli (macroenvironment), such as lights and noises. environmental conditions, optimizing the environment in which the child develops (microenvironment), maintaining the position of the premature neonate, minimal manipulation and pain management, and family-centered care that includes the use of the Kangaroo Mother Method (MMC), breastfeeding and parental intervention. The objective of the research is to determine the relationship that exists between the level of knowledge and practice of the nurse about care focused on the neurodevelopment of the premature newborn in the Neonatal ICU of Huacho 2021. The research methodology is quantitative, descriptive and correlational design. The population will be made up of 35 nurses who work in the Neonatal ICU Service of a Hospital in Huacho. A validated questionnaire of 20 questions will be applied to measure the level of knowledge and a checklist consisting of 32 items with dichotomous answers, to measure the practice of nursing care.

Los cuidados centrados en el neurodesarrollo son las acciones que brinda el profesional de enfermería para garantizar la continuidad del desarrollo neurológico del recién nacido en el ambiente extrauterino, incluyen intervenciones dirigidas al control de los estímulos externos (macroambiente), como son las luces y los ruidos ambientales, optimizar el entorno en el que se desarrolla el niño (microambiente), manteniendo la postura del neonato prematuro, la manipulación mínima y el manejo del dolor, y los cuidados centrados en la familia que incluyen la utilización del Método Madre Canguro (MMC), lactancia materna e intervención de los padres. El objetivo de la investigación es Determinar la relación que existe entre el nivel de conocimiento y la práctica de la enfermera acerca de los cuidados centrados en el neurodesarrollo del recién nacido prematuro en la UCI Neonatal de Huacho 2021. La metodología de investigación es cuantitativa, descriptiva y de diseño correlacional. La población estará conformada por 35 enfermeras que laboran en el Servicio de UCI Neonatal de un Hospital de Huacho. Se aplicará un cuestionario validado de 20 preguntas para medir el Nivel de conocimiento y una lista de cotejo que consta de 32 ítems con respuestas dicotómicas, para medir la práctica del cuidado enfermera.
