Effectiveness of ultrasound in the placement of catheters for hemodialysis in patients with chronic renal failure

Abstract

Objective: Analyze and systematize the evidence on the effectiveness of ultrasound in the placement of catheters for hemodialysis in patients with chronic renal failure. Materials and Methods: The type and design of the study was quantitative and systematic review respectively, 10 scientific articles made up the population and sample, of 100%, 40% correspond to Spain, 10% correspond to the United Kingdom, 10% Uruguay, 10 % Paraguay, 10% USA, 10% Mexico and 10% Iran. 70% corresponds to a clinical trial, 20% corresponds to a descriptive study and 10% to a retrospective observational study, in relation to the design and type of study. Results: We found in 100% (10/10) of the studies that the use of ultrasound was effective. Conclusions: It was concluded that the use of ultrasound in the placement of catheters for hemodialysis in patients with chronic renal failure is effective, because it has significant beneficial effects, being successful on the first attempt, reducing the risk of arterial puncture and hematomas. , in addition to facilitating the insertion of central lines, reducing complications for the operators who perform the punctures, as well as reducing morbidity and helping with difficult punctures.

Objetivo: Analizar y sistematizar las evidencias sobre eficacia de la ecografía en la colocación de catéteres para hemodiálisis en pacientes con insuficiencia renal crónica. Materiales y Métodos: El tipo y diseño de estudio fue cuantitativo y revisión sistemática respectivamente, 10 artículos científicos conformaron la población y muestra, del 100%, 40% corresponden a España, el 10% corresponde a Reino Unido, el 10% Uruguay, 10% Paraguay, 10% EE.UU, 10% México y 10% a Irán. El 70% corresponde a ensayo clínico, el 20% corresponde a estudio descriptivo y el 10% a observacional retrospectivo, en relación al diseño y tipo de estudio. Resultados: Encontramos en el 100% (10/10) de los estudios que el uso de la ecografía fue eficaz. Conclusiones: Se concluyó que el uso de la ecografía en la colocación de catéteres para hemodiálisis en pacientes con insuficiencia renal crónica son eficaces, debido a que tiene efectos beneficiosos significativos, teniendo éxito en el primer intento, reduciendo el riesgo de punción arterial y de hematomas, además de que facilita la inserción de vías centrales disminuyendo las complicaciones para los operadores quienes realizan las punciones, así también en el declive de morbilidad y ayuda en la punción difícil.
