Effectiveness of training parents with positive parenting programs to reduce child abuse

Abstract

A systematic review was carried out of 10 scientific articles evidenced on the effectiveness of training parents with positive parenting programs for the reduction of child abuse that were obtained from the database Pubmed, Scielo, Medline, Ebsco, Elsevier, Dialnet, ProQuest and Google Scholar. They were analyzed according to the Grade scale to determine the strength and quality of the evidence. Of the 10 articles, 40% (4/10) corresponded to the methodological design of a systematic review, 30% (3/10) to meta-analysis and 30% (3/10) to pre-experimental studies. RESULTS: Of the 10 articles reviewed, 90% (9/10) demonstrated that parent training with positive parenting programs is effective in reducing child abuse by improving protective factors and reducing risk factors in families, 10 % (1/10) showed that there is no significant effect of training with positive parenting programs in reducing child abuse. CONCLUSIONS: Of the 10 articles reviewed, 9 out of 10 show effectiveness of training parents with positive parenting programs in the prevention and reduction of child abuse and 1 out of 10 does not show effectiveness of training parents with positive parenting programs in reducing child abuse.

Se realizó una revisión sistemática de 10 artículos científicos evidenciados sobre la efectividad del entrenamiento a padres con programas de crianza positiva para la reducción del maltrato infantil que fueron obtenidos de la base de datos Pubmed, Scielo, Medline, Ebsco, Elsevier, Dialnet, ProQuest y Google académico. Se analizaron según la escala Grade para determinar la fuerza y calidad de la evidencia. De los 10 artículos, el 40% (4/10) correspondieron al diseño metodológico de revisión sistemática, el 30% (3/10) a meta-análisis y 30% (3/10) a estudios pre-experimentales. RESULTADOS: De los 10 artículos revisados, el 90% (9/10) demostraron que el entrenamiento de padres con programas de crianza positiva es efectivo para reducir el maltrato infantil mejorando los factores protectores y reduciendo los factores de riesgo en las familias, el 10% (1/10) mostró que no existe un efecto significativo del entrenamiento con programas de crianza positiva en la reducción del maltrato infantil. CONCLUSIONES: De los 10 artículos revisados, 9 de 10 evidencian efectividad del entrenamiento a padres con programas de crianza positiva en la prevención y reducción del maltrato infantil y 1 de 10 no muestra efectividad del entrenamiento a padres con programas de crianza positiva en la reducción del maltrato infantil.
