Knowledge of oxygen administration and its relationship with nursing care for the prevention of retinopathy in the premature neonate hospitalized in a hospital in the Peruvian Jungle-2021

Abstract

Care focused on the prevention of retinopathy of prematurity is focused on the management of oxygen therapy, being one of the main complementary therapies for management in the care of premature newborns, since it plays a fundamental role in the care of the critical neonate, the result of exposure to high and low levels or prolonged and poor exposure, inappropriate and excessive use brings with it serious consequences that can silently affect and harm the neonate if an investigation has not been carried out. monitoring, assessment and constant control of newborns who receive this treatment. The objective of this research is to know the relationship that exists between knowledge about oxygen administration and nursing care for the prevention of retinopathy in premature neonates hospitalized in the neonatal intensive care unit of a hospital in the Peruvian jungle. The research methodology is quantitative, descriptive and correlational in design. The population will be made up of 30 nurses who work in the Neonatology Service. A validated questionnaire of 30 questions will be applied to measure the level of knowledge and a checklist consisting of 10 items with dichotomous answers, to evaluate the practice of nursing care.

Los cuidados enfocados en la prevención de la retinopatía de la prematuridad están centrados en el manejo de la oxigenoterapia, siendo una de las principales terapias complementarias para el manejo en la atención del recién nacido prematuro, ya que juega un papel fundamental en el cuidado del neonato crítico, el resultado de la exposición de altos y bajos niveles o de la exposición prolongada y de manera deficiente, el uso inadecuado y desmedido trae consigo consecuencias graves que pueden afectar y atentar de manera silenciosa al neonato si no se ha llevado a cabo un monitoreo valoración y control constante los recién nacidos que reciben este tratamiento. El objetivo de esta investigación es conocer la relación que existe entre el conocimiento sobre administración de oxígeno y el cuidado de enfermería para la prevención de la retinopatía del neonato prematuro hospitalizado en la unidad de cuidados intensivos neonatales de un hospital de la selva peruana. La metodología de investigación es cuantitativa, descriptiva y de diseño correlacional. La población estará conformada por 30 enfermeras que laboran en el Servicio de neonatología. Se aplicará un cuestionario validado de 30 preguntas para medir el Nivel de conocimiento y una lista de cotejo que consta de 10 ítems con respuestas dicotómicas, para evaluar la práctica del cuidado de enfermería.
