Knowledge of kidney disease and adherence to treatment in diabetic people, preventive unit of a private clinic in Metropolitan Lima, 2023

Abstract

Introduction: Diabetes is a disease that has been increasing in the population, and there is no adequate control due to people's lack of knowledge about the complications it can present, therefore, it is vital that people with diabetes know the importance about having adequate treatment and about kidney disease, which is a complication due to poor control. Objective: Identify the relationship between knowledge of kidney disease and adherence to treatment in diabetics. Methods: Applied study, prospective, observational design with cross section. The sample will consist of 50 diabetic patients from the Preventive Unit of a private Clinic in Metropolitan Lima. The level of knowledge and adherence to treatment were evaluated using two questionnaires: a survey adapted by Vilela (assessed using an ordinal scale) and adapted by Andrade and Céspedes (assessed by Likert), instruments that are reliable and validated. The data will be processed in SPSS 27.0 and the hypotheses will be tested by applying Spearman's Rho test.

Objetivo: Determinar la relación del conocimiento de enfermedad renal y la adherencia al tratamiento en diabéticos, Unidad Preventiva de una Clínica Privada de Lima Metropolitana, 2023. Material y método: Estudio de tipo aplicado, diseño prospectivo, observacional con corte transversal. La muestra estará constituida por 50 pacientes diabéticos de la Unidad preventiva de una Clínica privada de Lima Metropolitana. El nivel de conocimiento se evaluó mediante un cuestionario adaptado por Vilela (valorado mediante una escala ordinal), validado por juicio de expertos y prueba piloto con Alfa de Cronbach de 0.83 y la adherencia al tratamiento por el cuestionario adaptado por Andrade y Céspedes (valorado por Likert), validado por juicio de expertos y prueba piloto con Alfa de Cronbach de 0.848, siendo instrumentos que son confiables. Los datos serán procesados en SPSS 27.0 y se probarán las hipótesis mediante la aplicación de la prueba Rho de Spearman.
