Degree of dependency and quality of life of older adults in the San Vicente de Paul-Rimac geriatric home, 2022

Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the relationship between the degree of dependency and quality of life in elderly adults at the San Vicente de Paul Geriatric Home, Rímac, 2022.

Methodology: A hypothetical-deductive study with a quantitative approach, using a non-experimental, descriptive-correlational, and cross-sectional design. The population consisted of 95 elderly residents at the San Vicente de Paul Geriatric Home; no representative sample was extracted.

To measure the variables, the WHOQOL-BREF instrument, consisting of 26 items, was used to assess quality of life, and the Barthel Index, consisting of 22 items, was used to evaluate the degree of dependency.

Objetivo: evaluar la relación entre el grado de dependencia y calidad de vida de adultos mayores en el Hogar Geriátrico San Vicente de Paul, Rímac, 2022. Empleando la metodología: estudio hipotético deductivo, de enfoque cuantitativa con diseño descriptivo correlacional transversal y no experimental. Se consideró una población de 95 adultos mayores residentes en el Hogar Geriátrico San Vicente de Paul, no se extrajo muestra representativa. Para medir las variables se utilizó el instrumento sobre calidad de vida WHOQOL-BREF que consta de 26 ítems y el instrumento Índice de Barthel, constituida por 22 ítems.
