Efecto de la suplementación con cúrcuma en el manejo de enfermedad renal crónica

Abstract

Turmeric (Curcuma longa) has curcumin as its main phenolic compound, which has different pharmacological and physiological properties. Among them, neuroprotective, anti-inflammatory, anticancer and antioxidant properties. The objective of this critical review was to know the effect of turmeric on proteinuria in patients with Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) in humans. Through evidence-based nutrition, a search strategy was developed and a search of the information was carried out in the bases PUBMED, Embase, Scopus, SCIELO, SCIENCE DIRECT, after reading and eliminating unrelated articles, selected 9, which were analyzed using the CASPE tool, where the research study was selected, which is titled: “Efficacy and Safety of Turmeric Dietary Supplementation on Proteinuria in CKD: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis of RCT”, that said research has a level of evidence II and a strong recommendation grade. According to the analysis of the research article, it allowed us to conclude about the positive effects of curcumin in reducing proteinuria in those patients suffering from chronic kidney disease.

La cúrcuma (Curcuma longa) tiene como principal compuesto fenólico a la curcumina, la cual cuenta con diferentes propiedades farmacológicas y fisiológicas. Entre ellas, propiedades neuroprotectoras, antiinflamatorias, anticancerígenas y antioxidantes. La presente revisión crítica tuvo como objetivo conocer el efecto de la cúrcuma sobre la proteinuria en pacientes con Enfermedad Renal Crónica (ERC) en humanos. A través de la nutrición basada en la evidencia, se elaboró una estrategia de búsqueda y se realizó una búsqueda de la información en las bases PUBMED, Embase, Scopus, SCIELO, SCIENCE DIRECT, luego de la lectura y eliminación de artículos no relacionados, se seleccionaron 9, los cuales fueron analizados mediante la herramienta CASPE, donde se llegó a seleccionarse el estudio de investigación, que lleva como título: “Efficacy and Safety of Turmeric Dietary Supplementation on Proteinuria in CKD: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis of RCT”, que dicha investigación tiene un nivel de evidencia II y grado de recomendación fuerte. Según el análisis del artículo de investigación, nos permitió concluir sobre los efectos positivos de la curcumina, en la reducción de la proteinuria en aquellos pacientes que padecen la enfermedad renal crónica.
