Needs of the family of the critical patient in the intensive care unit of the Hipólito Unanue national hospital, Lima 2020

Abstract

This work has a quantitative approach, descriptive level, cross-sectional; It will be carried out in order to determine the needs of the family of the critical patient in the Intensive Care Unit of the Hipólito Unanue National Hospital, regarding the degree of importance. The sample will consist of 50 relatives of patients admitted to the service, who meet the inclusion criteria. The instrument will be used: the Inventory of Needs and Stressors of Family Members in Intensive Care (INEFCI) questionnaire, which is valid (0.74) and reliable (0.77) according to Spearman Brown. The instrument evaluates what the needs are according to four dimensions: Information, Security, Proximity/Social Support and Comfort. The information obtained will allow the implementation of a care protocol aimed at family members, since according to the new approaches they have needs that demand attention; Proposing an open-door ICU could be considered by some to be of little benefit to health personnel, but this measure, on the contrary, provides benefits to the patient and their family. The family plays an important role in the recovery and reintegration of the patient into society.

El presente trabajo es de enfoque cuantitativo, de nivel descriptivo, de corte transversal; se realizará con objeto de determinar las necesidades de la familia del paciente crítico en la Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos del Hospital Nacional Hipólito Unanue, respecto al grado de importancia. La muestra estará constituida por 50 familiares de pacientes internados en el servicio, que cumplan con los criterios de inclusión. Se utilizará como instrumento: el cuestionario Inventario de Necesidades y Estresores de Familiares en Terapia Intensiva (INEFCI), el cual es válido (0.74) y confiable (0.77) según Spearman Brown. El instrumento evalúa cuáles son las necesidades según cuatro dimensiones: Información, Seguridad, Proximidad/Soporte Social y Confort. La información obtenida permitirá implementar un protocolo de atención dirigida a los familiares, puesto que según los nuevos enfoques ellos tienen necesidades que demandan de atención; el proponer una UCI a puertas abiertas, se podría considerar para algunos poco beneficioso para el personal de salud, pero esta medida por el contrario brinda beneficios al paciente y su familia. La familia desempeña un rol importante para la recuperación y reintegración del enfermo a la sociedad.
