Effective interventions in the management of patients with acute poisoning in an emergency department

Abstract

Objective: Systematize evidence on effective interventions in the management of patients with acute poisoning in a hospital emergency service. Material and Methods: it was quantitative because it sought to quantify in percentage terms the applicability of effective interventions according to the systematic review of the various primary studies consulted, which emerge from recent research and are related to this research. Results: indicated that 100% of the interventions carried out in the different hospital centers, on acute poisoning, were effective, considering that the existing techniques and protocols for this purpose were applied in all of them, in addition to the fact that they are similar to those applied in Peru, such as gastric lavage and the application of activated charcoal. Conclusion: In short, the most effective interventions in the management of patients with acute poisoning were those in which the gastric lavage procedure and the use of activated charcoal were applied, in which I agree, considering that it is a feasible, viable option. and very effective, taking into account the experiences of the emergency centers from which the 10 articles analyzed were derived. Work experience tells me that, in Peru, it is also the procedure par excellence.

Objetivo: Sistematizar las evidencias sobre las intervenciones eficaces en el manejo pacientes con intoxicación aguda en un servicio de urgencia hospitalaria. Material y Métodos: fue cuantitativo porque pretendió cuantificar de forma porcentual la aplicabilidad de intervenciones eficaces de acuerdo a la revisión sistemática de los diversos estudios primarios consultados, los cuales se desprenden de investigaciones recientes y que guardan relación con esta investigación. Resultados: indicaron que del 100% de las intervenciones realizadas en los distintos centros hospitalarios, sobre las intoxicaciones agudas, fueron eficaces, considerando que en todas fueron aplicadas las técnicas y protocolos existente para tal propósito, además que las mismas guardan similitud con las aplicadas en el Perú, como lo son el lavado gástrico y la aplicación del carbón activado. Conclusión: En definitiva, las intervenciones con mayor eficacia en el manejo de pacientes con intoxicaciones agudas, fueron en las que se aplicó el procedimiento de lavado gástrico y el uso del carbón activado, en lo cual coincido, considerando que es una opción factible, viable y muy eficaz, tomando en cuenta las experiencias de los centros de emergencia de los cuales se desprendieron los 10 artículos analizados. La experiencia laboral me dice que, en el Perú, también es el procedimiento por excelencia.
