Knowledge and attitudes about prevention of cervical cancer in 4th and 5th high school students of the I.E., 0025 San Martin de Porres, Lima 2023

Abstract

Objective: To determine how knowledge and attitudes about cervical cancer prevention are related in 4th and 5th grade students of the I.E. 0025 San Martin de Porres, Lima 2023. Material and Method: it had a quantitative approach, descriptive type, had a population of 133 students, 2 instruments were used, for the knowledge variable it was a questionnaire designed by Katiyusca Bravo and Karen Picota, with a qualitative validity of 90% and a reliability with Cronbach's Alpha of α=0.837, having 4 dimensions as dichotomous alternatives such as "if you know" and "do not know" with analysis of ranges of knowledge, medium and high. For the attitude variable, the questionnaire prepared by Carla Isla and María Solar was used, with a validation of a binomial test of p-value=0.0156<0.05 and a reliability of Cronbach's Alpha of α=0.7687, having 3 dimensions with alternative types. Likert scale and analysis of favorable and unfavorable ranges. The results: it was that 61.5% have medium knowledge, 32.3% low and 6% high, while for the attitude variable, 81.2% is favorable and 18.79% unfavorable. Likewise, in relation to both variables, it was obtained that the majority of students have medium-level knowledge and favorable attitudes (53.4%). Conclusions: it is concluded that the relationship between the variables is direct and low, that is, as the level of knowledge improves, attitudes about prevention are favourable. In addition, the value of the calculated significance is 0.000 < 0.05, this indicates that the relationship is significant between the variables.

Objetivo: Determinar cómo se relaciona el conocimiento y las actitudes sobre prevención del cáncer de cuello uterino en estudiantes de 4to y 5to de Secundaria de la I.E. 0025 San Martin de Porres, Lima 2023. Material y Método: fue de enfoque cuantitativo, tipo descriptivo, tuvo una población de 133 estudiantes, se utilizó 2 instrumentos, para la variable conocimiento fue un cuestionario diseñado por Katiyusca Bravo y Karen Picota, con una validez cualitativa del 90% y una confiabilidad con Alfa de Cronbach de α=0.837, teniendo 4 dimensiones como alternativas dicotómicas como “si conoce” y “no conoce” con análisis de rangos de conocimiento, medio y alto. Para la variable actitud, se utilizó el cuestionario elaborado por Carla Isla y María Solar, con una validación de una prueba binomial de p-valor=0.0156<0.05 y una confiabilidad de Alfa de Cronbach de α=0.7687, teniendo 3 dimensiones con alterativas tipo escala de Likert y con análisis de rangos favorable y desfavorable. Los resultados: fueron que el 61,5% tiene conocimiento medio, el 32,3% bajo y el 6% alto, mientras que para la variable actitud, el 81,2% es favorable y el 18,79% desfavorable. Asimismo, en relación de ambas variables se obtuvo que los estudiantes tienen en mayoría un conocimiento de nivel medio y actitudes favorables (53.4%).Conclusiones: se concluye que la relación entre las variables es directa y baja, es decir a medida que el nivel de conocimiento mejora, las actitudes sobre la prevención son favorables. Además, el valor de la significancia calculada es 0.000 < 0.05, esto indica que la relación es significativa entre las variables.
