Effectiveness of educational interventions on lifestyle changes in elderly patients with arterial hypertension

Abstract

Objective: To determine the effectiveness of educational interventions to promote lifestyle changes in patients with hypertension. Materials and Methods: The present study employed a qualitative research design through systematic reviews. The population consisted of 35 articles, and the sample included 10 articles. The instrument used was a database search in Lipecs, Lilacs, Scielo, Cochrane Plus, PubMed, and Medline, and the articles were analyzed using the GRADE system. Results: In the final selection, 10 articles were chosen, with the distribution by country as follows: 30% (3) from Spain, 20% (6) from Colombia, Mexico, and Cuba, and only 10% (1) from Peru. The studies were analyzed by study type, with 50% (5) being qualitative and 50% (5) quantitative. The study designs were also classified, with 50% (5) being randomized clinical trials and 50% (5) quasi-experimental designs. Conclusions: The reviewed studies showed that 80% of educational interventions were effective in promoting lifestyle changes in hypertensive patients, while 20% of the educational interventions were not effective in promoting lifestyle changes, according to the systematic reviews.

Objetivo: Determinar la efectividad de las intervenciones educativas para favorecer los cambios de estilo de vida en paciente con hipertensión arterial. Materiales y Métodos: En el presente estudio el tipo de investigación fue cualitativo el diseño de investigación por revisiones sistemáticas de la población fueron 35 artículos la muestra fue de 10 artículos el instrumento fue Búsqueda en Base de Datos como Lipecs, Lilacs, Scielo, Cochrane Plus, Pubmd, Medline y se analizó el artículo con el Sistema GRADE. Resultados: En la selección definitiva se eligieron 10 artículos, encontrándose porcentaje por estudio por País dando un 30% (03) correspondiendo a España, un 20% (06) los Países de Colombia, México y Cuba, solo un 10% (01) en Perú respectivamente. Han sido estudiados por Tipos de Estudios un 50% (05), Cualitativo y 50 % (05). Cuantitativo. Han sido también por Diseño de Estudio un 50 % (05) por Ensayo Clínico Aleatorizado, con 50 % (05). (05). Por Diseño Cuasi-Experimental. Conclusiones: Se evidenció en las investigaciones revisadas que, si existe un 80% de efectividad de las intervenciones educativas para favorecer los cambios de los estilos de vida en los pacientes hipertensos, mientras un 20 % no ha sido efectiva las intervenciones educativas para favorecer los cambios de los estilos de vida en pacientes hipertensos de acuerdo a las revisiones sistemáticas.
