Effectiveness of palliative care on the quality of life of oncology patients

Abstract

Objective: Determine the effectiveness of palliative care in cancer patients. Material and Methods: Observational and retrospective systematic review, the search has been restricted to articles with full text, and the selected articles were subjected to a critical reading, using Jover's evaluation to identify their degree of evidence. Results: In the final selection, They chose 10 articles from the following countries: Singapore, United States, England, Canada, China, France, which were 3 systematic reviews, 2 experimental, 1 quasi-experimental, 1 pre-experimental and 2 cohort; where it was established that the 10 articles are equivalent to 100% (n = 10/10) where the effectiveness of palliative care in oncological patients was determined. Conclusion: It was evidenced in the research reviewed that there is effectiveness of palliative care in cancer patients in improving care, verifying that it significantly reduces the burden of symptoms and improves the quality of care at the end of their life.

Objetivo: Determinar la efectividad de los cuidados paliativos en pacientes oncológicos. Material y Métodos: Revisión Sistemática observacional y retrospectivo, la búsqueda se ha restringido a artículos con texto completo, y los artículos seleccionados se sometieron a una lectura crítica, utilizando la evaluación de Jover para identificar su grado de evidencia Resultados: En la selección definitiva se eligieron 10 artículos de los siguientes países Singapur, Estados Unidos, Inglaterra, Canadá, China, Francia las cuales eran 3 revisiones sistemáticas, 2 experimentales, 1 cuasi experimentales, 1 pre experimental y 2 cohorte; en donde se estableció que los 10 artículos equivalen 100% (n = 10/10) en donde se determino la eficacia de los cuidados paliativos en pacientes oncológicos. Conclusión: Se evidenció en las investigaciones revisadas que existe eficacia de cuidados paliativos en pacientes oncológicos en la mejora del cuidado, al comprobar que reduce significativamente la carga de los síntomas y mejora la calidad de atención al final de su vida.
