Factors associated with mobbing and its consequences on the mental health of health workers

Abstract

Objective: Determine the associated factors and consequences of Mobbing on the mental health of health workers. Material and method: Observational and retrospective systematic review, the search has been restricted to articles with full text, and the selected articles were subjected to a critical reading, using the evaluation of the GRADE system to identify quality of evidence and grading of the strength of the recommendation. Results: In the final selection, 11 articles were chosen, of which 36.3% (04) correspond to Spain, 18.1% (04) belong to Mexico and two to Turkey, while 9% (03) were found research from Brazil, Italy and a study that integrates the countries of Brazil and Spain. Among systematic reviews, the countries of Italy, Spain, Mexico and Brazil were found with 45.5% and 54.5% were cross-sectional descriptive studies belonging to Brazil, Spain, Turkey and Mexico. Where the associated factors and consequences of mobbing on the mental health of the health worker could be identified. Conclusions: Two types of factors associated with the development of mobbing were determined, factors specific to the worker (age less than or equal to 30 and greater than 44 years, short professional career, working in certain units or shifts and presenting higher levels of anxiety). and organizational factors (lack of participation in decision-making, absence of a conflict resolution policy, perverse incentive systems, management not involved in the events and working more than 40 hours per week), there were also consequences negative for the mental health of the healthcare worker; as well as, in the witnesses of this type of workplace harassment.

Objetivo: Determinar los factores asociados y las consecuencias del Mobbing en la salud mental del trabajador sanitario. Material y método: Revisión Sistemática observacional y retrospectivo, la búsqueda se ha restringido a artículos con texto completo, y los artículos seleccionados se sometieron a una lectura crítica, utilizando la evaluación del sistema GRADE para identificar calidad de la evidencia y graduación de la fuerza de la recomendación. Resultados: En la selección definitiva se eligieron 11 artículos, de los cuales el 36.3% (04) corresponden a España, un 18.1% (04) pertenecen dos a México y dos a Turquía, mientras que con un 9% (03) se hallaron investigaciones de Brasil, Italia y un estudio que integra los países de Brasil y España. Entre revisiones sistemáticas se encontraron a los países de Italia, España, México y Brasil con un 45.5% y un 54.5% se encontraron estudios descriptivos transversales pertenecientes a Brasil, España, Turquía y México. Donde se pudieron identificar los factores asociados y las consecuencias del mobbing en la salud mental del trabajador sanitario. Conclusiones: Se determinó dos tipos de factores asociados para el desarrollo de mobbing, factores propios del trabajador (edad inferior e igual a 30 y mayor a 44 años, la corta trayectoria profesional, trabajar en determinadas unidades o turnos y presentar niveles mayores de ansiedad) y factores de la organización (la falta de participación en la toma de decisiones, la ausencia de una política de resolución de conflictos, sistemas perversos de incentivos, jefaturas no involucradas en los hechos y trabajar más de 40 horas por semana), además existieron consecuencias negativas para la salud mental del trabajador sanitario; así como, en los testigos de este tipo de hostigamiento laboral.
