Internet use and aggression in adolescents from the district of San Juan de Lurigancho, Lima, 2021

Abstract

This research aimed to determine the relationship between internet use and aggressiveness, using a sample of 228 adolescents from the district of San Juan de Lurigancho, Lima, Peru, in 2021. The hypothetical-deductive method was followed, applying a quantitative procedure without variable manipulation, using instruments only once. The instruments used were the Young Internet Addiction Test and the Buss and Perry Aggression Questionnaire. The results affirmed that both variables are directly and significantly correlated with a low association (rho=.361; p<.05). The research concludes that adolescents who use the internet more uncontrollably tend to display aggressive behaviors.

Esta investigación se ha desarrollado con el objetivo de determinar la relación entre el uso de internet y la agresividad, empleando como muestra a 228 adolescentes del distrito de San Juan de Lurigancho, Lima Perú durante el año 2021. Para el estudio, se utilizó los lineamientos del método hipotético deductivo, aplicando un procedimiento cuantitativo y evitando la manipulación de variables, habiendo aplicando los instrumentos una sola vez. Los instrumentos empleados son el test de adicción a la internet de Young y el cuestionario de agresividad de Buss y Perry, obteniendo resultados que afirman que ambas variables están correlacionadas de manera directa y muy significativa con una asociación baja (rho=.361; p<.05). La investigación concluye por tanto que los adolescentes quienes tienden a utilizar la internet de manera más descontrolada, suelen manifestar comportamientos agresivos.
