Effectiveness of percutaneous tracheostomy in breathing and ventilation of patients with respiratory distress

Abstract

Objective: To systematize the evidence on the effectiveness of percutaneous tracheostomy in patients with respiratory difficulty. Materials and Methods: The research was quantitative in approach, and its design corresponded to a systematic review. The population consisted of 35 articles, with the sample made up of 10 scientific articles from indexed journals. The search tools used were the EBSCO, Scielo, British Medical Journal, Wiley Online Library, Journal of Rheumatology, PubMed, Lancet, and Cochrane Library databases. Regarding the evaluation of the articles, the method used was GRADE, which assessed the quality of the evidence as well as the strength of its recommendation. Results: The publications considered, 100%, were from Canada (20%), Brazil (20%), Colombia (10%), Germany (10%), the United States (10%), India (10%), Italy (10%), and China (10%). Conclusions: It was concluded that 70% of the studies on the effectiveness of percutaneous tracheostomy in patients with respiratory difficulty show characteristics of lower investment and a high degree of effectiveness when early tracheostomy is applied, compared to late tracheostomy. Only 30% of these studies indicate relative efficiency.

La investigación fue de enfoque cuantitativo, el diseño para su estudio correspondió a una revisión sistemática, la población considerada se conformó de 35 artículos, asimismo la muestra se conformó de 10 artículos científicos que provienen de revistas indexadas, siendo utilizadas como instrumentos de búsqueda las bases de EBSCO, Scielo British Medical Journal, Wiley Online Library, Journal of Rheumatology, PubMed, Lancet y Cochrane Library. En cuanto a la evaluación de los artículos, el método puesto en práctica fue GRADE, por el cual se valoró la calidad de la evidencia, así como la fuerza de su recomendación. Resultados: Las publicaciones consideradas al 100%, se contó con Canadá 20%, Brasil 20%, Colombia 10%, Alemania 10%, Estados Unidos 10%, India 10%, Italia 10%, China 10%. Conclusiones: Se concluyó que el 70% como estudios de efectividad sobre la efectividad de traqueostomía percutánea en pacientes con dificultad respiratoria. Presenta características de menor inversión, alto grado de efectividad si se aplica la traqueostomía temprana en comparación con la traqueostomía tardía. Sólo 30% de estos estudios señalan una relativa eficiencia.
